anybody with experience with carby/turbo setups??
anybody with experience with carby/turbo setups??
hi all, currently i own a 91 model vn 5sp v6 but been intrested in getting a n/a lancer the same shape as the 92-94 gsr 4wd turbo's
i thought this shape only came with a 1.6 or 1.8 injected motor but ive just found out they also come as a carbied 1.5 or 1.6 as opposed to an injected motor,
how would i go about puting a td04 on it and a small factory gsr cooler??
would it be safe to run the standard compression ratio??
id assume it would be much easier due to not needing an ems but what im wanting to know is what would be involved and would it be hard to get those loud turbo compresser stall noises?
and most importantly would it be reliable on a standard boost setting of say 7psi or is it just like me asking how long is a piece of string??
anybody who has experience or any general advice id like to hear from you,
PLS dont type just buy a gsr cos i cant get insurance but thell insure me with a turbo converted lancer,
(NOT INTRESTED IN BIG HP JUST WANT A DECENT INCREASE IN POWER OVER THE ENTIRE REV RANGE WITHOUT SPENDING BIG$$$)
cheers

k, i have been through that road ( i have a 4g15 carby)
cheapest n best option.. buy the car, put in a 4G93 GSr 2 litre Turbo..
messing around with turbo carby setup was really hard, and on that engine, was a ***** to tune.. i had a TD04, SU carby, and a gsr intercooler from a GSR '94 model.. trust me, its a ***** to do.. and cheaper, and lot less straining, if you whack the other engine from.. it may cost about 2500-300grand for the engine, fit it yourself, but gee, you'd get so much more out of it, and it would be reliable..
Pete.

yea its really hard to tune a carbed motor
in all seriousness you should go to a mustang board or something because they have ALOT of carbed cars and a bunch of em are turboed to you should ask questions there
they would know more about turboed carbs prolly then most of us here

i have no pictures, cause it didnt even last 10 k's before i got ****ted off at it.. you gotta make your own exhaust manifold, intake manifold, the lancer engine requires the stock manifold due to some ports on the carby, all sortsa ****.. i seriously don't recommend it at all hey... thats coming from someone who has tried..
i brouguyt myself a Cordia turbo instead, fuel injected/carby, but easier to tune, and will withstand a sit more of boost.. like 14 pound with stock internals.. well, thats what mine is set for
