General car buying advice needed.. I'm from the states

Hello there. I'm looking for someone who has a lot of knowledge in the "ins and outs" of new and used car buying. I have a cousin who recently moved to Melbourne and needs advice. I'm very familiar with how it works here in the states, but I'm not quite sure if its the same over there. Some of the questions I have are:

Do new car dealerships always try to get you with the "extended warranty" and other extras after you commit to buying?

Do dealerships require you to have insurance coverage before leaving the lot, otherwise they get their insurance salesman to sell you insurance at an outrageous price?

What are some good, affordable insurance companies?

How are new cars priced at the dealerships? Do they price cars reasonably close to MSRP or are they marked up like crazy?

Do cars depreciate in value similarly to here in California? Would it be wiser to look for a car maybe a year or 2 old rather then new?

In case you're wondering, my cousin is looking to finance a Toyota Camry Hybrid.
I'm sure I have many other questions that I can't think of right now. lol
Basically I'm trying to help her buy a new car without all the bull****. Thanks.
