air con

I have air con in my cc coupe, but I never really use it because it bogs down the engine something chronic, like it lowers the idle speed to 300-400rpm which shakes and carries on and makes it really hard to drive.

Is there supposed to be an idle speed increase mechanism which operates when the air con is on?

I've got the carb, not EFI so if anyone knows i'd appreciate advice!

I had a look in the service manual and it doesn't mention anything in there that i can see

I suggest put it on a long piece of rope and use it as a boat or cray pot anchor.. your lil baby 4G15 with 64kW is having some trouble.. i seriously don't understand why mitsi put the air-con on these lil engines, AIR-Con is a major killer to cars under 100KW imo.. the engine just isnt strong enough..

I *thought* I saw somewhere in the service manual that there's a carb mechanism which increases idle speed when the compressor is engaged, but my manual got wet and fell to pieces and i can't seem to find it again

its just kind of crap not being able to use my air con on really hot days when its there doing nothing

they've come a long way with the CG lancer. it turns off the AC when you're driving hard, very cool :-)

hey, hehe yeah i know what u mean, try this turn on the air con, turn on the head lights and push on the break pedal, now thats when your engine dies. Anyhow to the problem yeah i kinda fixed the idle problem, but no it wont help you when you climbing hills (you just gotta turn it off ). On your carbi there is a little screw on the left side, turn it one way and see if your idle drops, then turn it the other way to raise it. Dont raise it too much tho.

is that the idle screw? I already turned that up, been meaning to turn it down especially since its been so hot lately. It works to a degree but I don't like sitting the car idling at lights at more rpm than its meant to be
