I agree with what you are saying Sunder - however this suddenly became more of a topic about how demeaning they can be.

That 'book' thing u were talking about.. its basically a list each cop keeps on you... if his ****ed u up b4 he basically looks over it again and if he sees that the same **** is still on your car he dicks you harder on the fine.

My mate got done for beeping his horn... heres the story... on chaps all of a sudden people start beeping like mad if the traffic is slow as ****... and my mate has a VL and its horn is pretty loud! and he beeps it you know to be like the rest... out of all the cars there beeping she comes up to us and says " if i hear you beep that ****ING horn once more i will pull you over and go throught your car with a toothpic and make sure it costs u more than the value of it to get it back on the road"... AND MIND U IT WAS A FEMAILE OFFICER.

pigs are ****ed... end of story... i stay away.. if see em in my rear view mirror ill pull over just so they get ahead of me so i dont need to look at the *******s.

i once had a few beers and it was at chapel st. and there was like 20 cops dicking ppl... and i went up to one and said hey mate, thought all u guyz were on strike??? the **** must of been 7ft tall and he just looked down at me and gave me the biggest evil eye!!!
but it was worth it cause i knew it pissed him off!

This pretty much sums up in our little thread here how "hard" they can really come down on people when THEY want too.

Sounds to me like they have their own agendas really.

It's a different story if a little IT Support guy is having an "off" day. But when a police officer is having an "off" day and feels like doing "hard" duty - it kind of affects peoples lives just a little more...especially when we're as innocent as chips.

I've only had one run in with the cops actually, well 2 but a friend was driving.

First one I was driving and cops were pulling everyone on a 4 lane highway over into a service road and breathtesting everyone. I hadn't had a drink in a week, so I wasnt worried or anything.

And the other time was when a friend and I were heading up to Knox. His dad was in the Passenger and I was in the back, he was a learner by the way. So we are in his dad's WRX STi and his dad tells him to punch it on Burwood Highway to overtake a truck, we get up to 125 in an 80 zone when we see the cops up ahead in the left lane. So we slow to 80 pretty fast and roll along side and then past them looking innocent. When suddenly the lights go on and we are told to pull over. The cop thinks we were doing only about 100! His dad just yells at him saying he used to be a driving instructor (really computer programmer/ex-machanic) and that he was watching the speed the whole time and didnt speed at all. And if he had a problem with it he could take them to court. The officer just walked off and drove off.

We were pissing ourselves for about a month whenever we spoke about it.

Anyone notice how coppers can't drive either. Almost had a prang with one the other day doing a u-turn, on a blind corner, over double lines, in the wet. How ****ing stupid can you be???

Also, what is the regulation on exhausts. I had a copper try and defect me for mine (2" hi-flow cat) because it "wasn't standard". Nothing about it being too noisy, just that it wasn't standard. WTF!! I thought under 90Db and you were fine.

All standards are there for a reason: Either safety, or emissions. It's in societies best interests in general to ensure that cars meet standards.
I once had a copper in Coffs here say to me that he can (and will) pull a car over, even if its brand new from the show room floor and defect it. Talk about abusing the system

Considering that your washer fluid has to be over half full to be legit, I can believe that.

But if that's the *only* thing they could get you for, tell them you'll file a complaint with the Ombudsman, for harassing you, and pulling you over without due cause. (There is no way he could have known your washer bottle was less than half full by driving beside you!)

See if they insist on giving you the defect.

It's the department that deals with the public's complaint about police abuse of power, or neglect of duty.

They have the right to start inquiries, sack police, or discipline them.

I work for the Department of Justice and know some pretty intersting stuff that goes on. Let's just say I dont look at the Police as the all public serving law enforcing good guys they'd want to be seen as...

Exactly my point. There is no way that a police officer can have any idea that your car is defective if it is sitting at a petrol station. Surely they must give you a reason for inspecting your car, and a right for us to say no if the reason is not due cause!

Thats right, they got too much power over us, i think mostly caused by these illeagal drag nights. call me a hypocrite coz i used to go to them, but now i realize what a bad name it has given to modified and import cars.
