EGO sensor for 95 Lancer?
EGO sensor for 95 Lancer?
I've got a 95 CC Lancer Coupe, does anyone know if I would have a EGO, you know, the sensor that measures fuel ratio's in your exhaust...
Do older model cars have them or are they a semi-new thing.
The Thing I'm looking at Fiddling with next
My mate has one in his car and it looks prety cool.

hey
there is a kit that you can build from Jaycar, its a fuel mixture display kit, but u still need to get an ego sensor from wreckers, then alls u do is plug the sensor into the kit, stick it in the exhaust and the kit will indicate if u running lean or rich.
Then just adjust the mixture bolt on your carbi till it correct.
simple aye?

Have you tried this before ? does it read correctly ? I didn't think you could do it that easily..
No i havent, ive been meaning to get the kit (there are two tho, one is with 3 lights simple one, and the other is with 10 lights and a digital readout which is what i wanted to get, but its pricy too ~60 for good the kit).
Yeah im sure it works, theres nothing to it really, the ego sensor just detects how much unburned oxygen is goin out your pipe, and the kit just gives you a reading of what the sensor is sayin.
BTW you dont have the kit in the exhaust all the time, its just so u can set your carbi.
Im sure the ones in efi cars the computer automatically sets the mixture.

Most oxygen sensors simply flick from zero to one volt as soon as you go from lean to rich. (It's not an on/off switch, but it's an extremely steep line, if you were to graph voltage vs mixture.)
So a kit like that basically measures how close you are to 1 volt, and uses that to determine richness/leaness.

yeah thats the cheapy one with 3 lights that i was mentioning earlier, its ok but its not as accurate as the digital one. Still good tho, but if you want REALLLY acurrate mixture id go for the 60 buck one (u gotta build it yourself i think).
