so when should i shift?
1st......
2nd @ 40-45
3rd @ 75-80
:s
i have no idea
Also, anyone know how to minimise wheelspin, coz its a ***** for it.
If you are interested I will have in my possession in a few days time a couple of shift lights for sale and they do not require a tacho to adjust on the back of the tacho light is a small dial which has all the tacho points and will flash on when you hit the right rpm these normally sell for about $150 and mine will be selling for $95 they are an easy fit 3 wires one to power one for ground and the other to the tacho point which is on the firewall under the bonnet near the throttle body and to calibrate the tacho to the either 4 6 or 8cyl you just clip some wires

Is that a tacho dial that I can see?

Rexhunta, where did you get your Tacho/Speedo Guages? because they so dont come stock with our cars.

yes that is a dial on the back there and you just set the preferred rpm at what point you want to change at and it will flash at you - unfortunately I have sold all 3 units this week but I am looking at getting another 3 there is about 14 days turn around time in getting these

if you are interested give me a call

you can usually pick up a full set of stock Lancer gauges from a Lancer for about $200 from the wreckers and as they are a plug n play set up you would not have any problems with it the only thing that you will have to do is get it calibrated to your car and this usually cost only $60 and is only a quick job to do

Yep, i got mine from the Wreckers.. I just did my own little finishing touches like the Ralli-Art sticker and the little toy Evo 6 glued inside the dial itself...

hmmmmm, it be cheaper to just get an aftermarket tacho though wouldnt it? Not an overly huge try hard one, but something nice and sleek... maybe with a white face, they always look cool. I'm not talking about the ones that are like $200+ or anything, I dont want anything fancy like shift lights and all that.

Any advantages to getting the Guage Cluster as opposed to getting a AM Tacho?

well the advantages of the gauge cluster is that it looks stock like it is meant to and will read extremely accurately the AM tachos depending on what you use your car for and the price you pay is always going to be the amount of features like recall shift points... I do a little bit of drag racing from time to time and the thing that lets me down is not changing at the correct RPM like I may change 200rpm too soon or too late which causes a loss of 100's of a second may not sound like much but in races that last for me 15 sec it is a lot of time to be giving away

like I may of said earlier I have a stock gauge tacho in my car and I have recently put in just a shift light and it seems to work fine there are other options other than the shift light or a small tacho and gauges you couls also look at the Apexi or similar brand in car performance meter and these will do a variety of jobs like measure time distance speed G forces remove the speed limiter - these have a nice blue digital read out but are priced at about $450 butyou may be lucky to get one cheaper

hope that has helped

I was after a mod that not many people do.. and having a Larger AM tacho in my car would seriously give me the ****s sometimes, as i like to go off into the gravel near my town and have a play, and if i had a tacho, im sure as hell know it will fall off..

The Other advantage of having the gauges inside 1 housing is that i don't have to look around the place.. if the tacho and speedo are together, thats 1 quick glance in my opinion.. but others my have different thoughts, but thats mine..

if your car is in stock form then I would say that the power band kicks in at 4000rpm and should continue thru to 6200rpm after that it is wasting time

mine on the other hand being lightly modded I have power all the way thru to 6800rpm but there is a surge at 3500rpm - it is at that point that you notice the cam is now working

I recently had a upgrade in air flow meter and it has made a tremendous difference in the revs it is a lot more freer crisper and very responsive I did not gain any more h.p but the transition and power curve has been cleaned up - all Lancers have a power dip in there power which starts at 4000rpm and dips till the rpm hits 4500rpm and then back up this has now been eliminated
