Unhappy Strange Box

The other day I remove the rear right internal trim panel in my 1994 mivec cyborg mirage and found this strange aluminium box with an aerial taped justed below the window. It has a misti part no. and so i rang Mitsi NZ but they told me it was an invalid part no. I was wondering if anyone out there knows what it is. My car has a different aerial for the radio so it's not that.
The numbers on the box are:
MR123937
Type G8D280MB11
No. 013318

Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

We have something in the states called LoJack.. LoJack a tracking device for recovering vehicles stolen..

What I do know about LoJack is that its hidden in the car, even the owner doesn't know where it is or what it looks like. I do know that they put labels on it and paint it to look similar to other factory components.. If your not the original owner of the car, its possible it had something similar that might have been, or is available in your locale.

Hope this helps your search..

yeah i thought about that type of thing, it wouldn't of been in N.Z. but prob japan. Also apparently in Japan they charge you for going into the inner city and it could be tracking for that

Nice little privacy issue there, go into a dealer or a mechanic and ask them about it. Let us know anything else about it
