Just arrived in Melbourne today from the states. Thought I'd say a quick hello!

Beautiful city, wonderful people ... my only complaint so far is I couldn't find a #$%# Starbucks today! All the local coffee shops have tiny little lattes and I need my tripple venti latte.

I've yet to see an Evo in Melbourne. I've seen a few riced up Honda's though. The RPM / racing (super v8 race and they rally) were great. Wish we had that kind of motorsports coverage back in the states. About all we get is Nascar, drag racing and a bit of this and that ... I don't think I've ever seen a GT or rally event on TV back in the states.

I hope you have an enjoyable stay and been in Melbourne, in time you will see many riced up cars Also as you noticed, The V8 Supercar races is a very big tradition in Australia, you could go into any Pub and bring up a conversation about Holden Vs. Ford and be talking (or fighting) for ages

You wont see too many Evos, our only 'official' release has been the 6.5 Makkinen. Otherwise, there is a small number (relatively) of grey market imports.

We get our release of 8's (only 100) in a few weeks!

As for Starbucks........ there is better coffee than that available mate! Starbucks hasn't really taken off in Australia yet.

 

That FARKING christ Starbucks are not everywhere, just another evil multinational to invade us! There are some awesome coffee places around, that do serve huge latte just have to look around.

I found the Starbucks on 440 Collins. Same great coffee I'm used to. I tried a few other coffee shops here and there, but sadly couldn't get anything from them other than tiny little lattes.

On a positive Aussie note though, I ate dinner with some friends at Number 8 last night ... outstanding food and the best whiskey sours I've ever had!

It's FARKING cold here in Melbourne though ... should have postponed the trip until summer.

 

haha you should come to brisbane... been having 28 degree days (85*F) and its supposed to be the dead of winter...

I must say I like starbucks as well but I think thats my dual citizenship talking :P haha welcome to the big brown land of oz

 

let me say one thing... melbournes weather sux, its sunny windy raining and then windy, and thats in a space of 5 minz!! anyway hope u njoy your stay... take it easy, and if your in st.kilda and some old guy comes up 2 you asking if your busy RUN AS FAST AS U CAN!

 

if u reckon melbourne is cold and ****ty weather....dont even think about coming to ballarat....good cruising street and a few good cars....nice town but **** **** weather!!
