Arrow FWD Lancer Coupe - ?¿?

Ok, ill have P's in about 2 weeks :P

and im looking forward to having the freedom that comes with a licence, but also having a little fun in my car,

But what can u do in a FWD car....anything, if your on a tight corner (on the track of coarse) and u lock it to the right and accelertae, where will the back of the car end up?

Stuff like that, what fun can i have in a FWD? I dont like spinning the wheels, itl break (again) if i keep that up, so how can i still be a stupid imature 18yr old P plater?

one word - DRIFT...and don't say it can't be done - anything is possible if you try hard enough...

and if you lock it on a tight corner, the laws of physics will dictate that the back end will go where ever you were going in the first place... (i.e. Forward and then follow you).

Drift in a FWD can be done.. ask my friends when i come out to the track.. video footage is good

If you hard lock it into a corner, you'll understeer amd basically go the same direction as the front wheels will be spinning, so there'll be no traction, and in the end will cause the car to float the same way..

If you do a scandinavian flick ( yank steering wheel opposite way to where your intending to go, then yank it the way you want to go) you'll end up with the tail kicking out, as you have unbalanced the car.. this is the way i do it at the track ( with the exception of the handie brake) and the way most people do it.. i have a dvd called " Burning Rubber " with Tiff Needle in it.. he shows you the tricks of the trade in FWD, RWD, AWD ( evo 6, STi, R34 GTR and a Porsche) and it extremely handy as it slow mo's the way to do it, which in turn shows you exactly the way.. plus seeing the Evo sideways is awesome

Pete.

The parent comes out of me once in a while - is it particularly wise to be giving advice on how to hoon to a young lad not even on his P's?

My best advice would be to take an advanced driving course - go to a skid pan, and see where you run out of talent. Better that it's on a private course than wrapping yourself around a tree before you know what to do.

Hope you have fun, but be safe.

I agree with Evo8Downunder.

When i got my licence I took the advance driver training up at Wannerroo on the Skidpan! And that was awesome. Since then I do such events regularly in competition. Believe it not, it is actually more fun than trying to do it on a road.

Oh yeah, FWDs do awesome Handbrakies!!!! Just watch that clutch though!

I did the same, within having my p's for 2 months i was whisked off to a defensive driving course up at the Collie Track.. had an awesome time in my old Torana (gasp !) hooning around in their special gravel course.. so fun !

I suggest doing something like that.. as i know, when i hear the next one is on, i might go and have a crack at it again. to releive a few of my bad habits

Yeah, I'm going to go do a defensive driving course... my parents are giving me one for my 19th....

Although its a little bit too late for my car, which was written off around a pole... and I wasnt even doing anything crazy. I was maybe 5km/h over the speed limit and a cat jumped out at me. Just goes to show you can never be too careful. Don't do anything too risky. Even if your think your the best driver in the world, your probably not because of lack of experiance. Sorry if that sounds like I'm ****ting on you, but I found out the hard way.

Learn how to control slides, and how to maintain control when your car doesnt want to. But learn on the track, with experienced people who know exactally what they are doing... not with your friend egging you on form the back seat, because you may end up with a pole in your *** and a shard of metal through your friends head... not something you want.

Other than that, have fun and be safe.
