ECR toy run
we had a great time out there yesterday!!!! thanks to everyone that came out!
We had 8 evos out there and met another guy with a ralliart out there whos new to the scene.
Jims car was the only one that we didn't run because we just finished putting the new motor in and found what seemed to be the reason the last motor failed (injector wasn't flowing nearly enough, misfiring at 18psi, with unusually lean conditions). after dropping in a new set of injectorsat the track the car ran 100x better but it was also found that a couple o2 housing bolts backed out so we decided to not push the car hard until we know its 100%.
Todds car ran flawlessly again, he was one of the quickest cars out there, lapping very consistantly at 2:07-2:08 range. thats 5-6 seconds faster per lap then the last time out with the new shep rear diff which Todd couldn't put into words how much better it made the car handle. we also removed the lowering springs and replaced the driver side suspension so obviously the car is working better. we still know we need about 1-2 seconds more out of the car to have a winning time according to this years TTC winning time.
Jeff ran his X MR with the continental slicks on it and was the fastest of the cars we timing (richard was pretty quick too but we didn't get any times). if i remember correctly Jeff said he ran a 2:06 according to his harrys lap timer.
Juan got his first taste of using the lap timing, and with mapping out the track for him we can show him the lines to make improving his driving. his car also needed some new spark plugs by the end, but overall i think he had a great time. i think he enjoyed riding in the supercharged lotus
Adam ran with us as well, and was lapping great in the yellow group. now to get him out to the NASA events
Justin took his brothers X out and has decided autocross isn't as fun
richard, myself, tam and caleb all ran sessions. hopefully we got caleb hooked on it, and Tams car was like driving on ice with my 4 year old tires we put on
Richard put the hurt on me in the last morning session with his grippy tires

So it looks like Jeremy x2 and I are the only ones in the crowd that like autocross! Wish I could have been two places at once but I had to choose my fav. Great job out there guys!
great update, almost as good as being out there!
I tried to head out there with some spectators, but it wasn't meant to be
whats your next event? maybe there will be room for some ride-alongs??

This event seems to always be one of the best of the year. Even though I didn't get to run, seeing everyone else run so well was a blast! Great driving guys!!
The next local event is at MSRC on 3/17-18. The track surface is much smoother and the run off is the best you will find at any track, this is the place to push your limits so you can really learn your car. Come on out, it will be a great time!

I still like autox a lot, it just isn't as fun. I will still be autoxing next year for sure. I can't afford a track weekend every month. But I will say that when I can I don't think I will be autoxing anymore. Track is just so much fun and I think I may actually be better at it than autox. Hard to tell after only 2 track sessions but I feel much more at home on a track than autox course.
I got bumped into the blue group after lunch and was able to do some passing which was a lot of fun. I was keeping up pretty good with the guys in the blue group for it only being my second time out on a track. I think my fastest lap was a 2:17 something, so not to shabby for a noob in a porky stock evo x.
I had a blast. Thanks to Todd and Richard for talking me into going.

I don't get as much satisfaction from autoxing
the short exposure to the course makes it a short term memory experience more than a driving experience.... i guess i'm not aging gracefully...

not continental slicks... pirelli enduro slicks

Props to Todd in his car! I was blown away how fast he was on *street* tires!

Mineral Wells usually separates the men from the boys, from what I have seen.

This was the best Toy Run I've raced. Had a blast with everybody out there and there were no issues with the car. Thanks again Kevin and all the guys at EvoDynamics that put so much time and effort into the car.
