Talking I got FLASHED......Results and Impressions.

The car is absolutetly amazing. The car runs better, feels stronger, and has a safer tune. Martin knows I open-track the car, um, A LOT, so he made sure to tweak the setup accordingly. He built some safety factors in the tune, but was still able to add over 30+whp to the car. More importantly, the power curve is progressive, with less drop in the higher power RPM range.

When I would race/open-track the car before, I lost so much power above 6200rpm, I would shift at 6, to ensure I could stay in the power. Those days are over, and thank goodness, because there is nothing more frustrating than having to short-shift a car running in traffic.

As for the numbers, here you go. My first dyno was on a Mustang dyno, and it was only with an MBC, SAFC2, and full exhaust, minus down-pipe, with cat. I was also fighting a failing BOV.

That dyno, converted to Dynojet would be around 220whp. Since, I added a BOV, LIC, cone-filter, and down-pipe. With those mods, the car dyno'd around 268-270whp on AMS's dyno.

Now, the kicker, running a safer boost curve, meaning I bleed to 16psi instead of holding 19-20psi, yet, I made 310-313whp on the stock turbo. I did add the AMS intercooler, and a set of cams. On race-gas, Martin says the car has a lot of potential (@15+), but he setup the car for maximum safety for long runs at the race track, and for One-Lap of America. So, basically, I am just a stage2 with cams, making over 310whp, while still tapering boost for safety on-track.

In conclusion, the car is stronger, more efficient, and safer....with absolutely NO drawbacks, unless you think getting 27mpg is a drawback.

To all the guys who helped on my car, thanks!!!

?? Don't know, we only spoke briefly this AM, and he (Martin) was explaining what he did to the car. Jon K delivered the car yesterday, and we never really talked about the tq.

AMS can anyone chime in here?

We installed a set of buddy clubs and I was really impressed with the results (272, 264's). We're going to be adding them to our product lineup.

David runs his EVO on a lot of track days so I know he's not going to be easy on her. I took this into consideration when tuning his car and making sure there is plenty of margin for safety. I'm glad you like it David and I can't wait to see what you do at the track.

So do you guys have to software now "flash" our EVO's? I'm soon to be trading my 8 for a 9 and would like to have a fresh start and have you guys flash and dyno my car. Have you had much experience with the 9's yet Martin?

I know he has done one already, search this thread, and look for Evo9. If I had more time, I would search it up, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Martin, I am going down to Talladega to practice with Spencer on the 20th. He is bringing in one of his buddies who races with him, and builds race cars, to come down and help out with the chassis. I will let you know what he finds.

Can you buy an extra ECU to maintain warranty? Get one for flashing and keep the original stock for dealer repairs? I know this can be done with Subarus.

We're flashing EVO VIII's right now with great results. I did one last night with our stage1 & HKS intake (which leans it the car already) & it made 275whp and 274 ft-lbs of torque. After a custom flash we where making 300whp and 300-304 ft-lbs of torque consistantly. With an AFC we could have made close to 300whp but the torque would not have gone up. Also with the Flash I smooth out the timing map so the power is consistant and smooth.

We will be flashing 9's in the next few weeks!!
