One Lap of America is open to all kinds of cars.. last year the top 10 finishers were:
Porsche 996
Dodge Viper SRT-10
Chevrolet Corvette
Dodge Ram 1500 (yes, a truck)
Chevrolet Corvette
Chrysler 300c
Lancer Evo VIII (woo-hoo that was us)
Dodge Neon SRT-4
Superperformance Daytona Coupe (Cobra GTS Replica)
Acura NSX

Then there were STi's a bunch of Vettes, couple more Vipers, a couple of hybrid cars, an Ultima GTR and a Radical SR3. In past years we have seen a Lamborghini Diablo and other exotics.

One Lap events are open to the public, so feel free to come out and visit/watch/cheer us on.. (last year we had people that came out to cheer us on end up working on the car)

I'll be there (Road America) to watch and/or help. I can't guarantee I'll be a parts car for you, but that's negotiable.

I hope we don't need forced crew help, this year we will have a pop-off valve along with a couple of boost control systems to avoid an overboost situation. Martin will be giving me as much HP as he feels comfortable with, and I will be pushing it as hard as I can while staying out of walls/guardrails/tire barriers.

Autobahn will be cool, we tested there last year a week before One Lap on the 1.4 mile short course, where we ran 1:10s before LSD and on the Bridgestone street tires.

Another thing about Autobahn is that it is AMS's "home" track, so I expect a lot of support out there.

Hey Jon. Just spying on you. What's this widebody, 295 action i'm hearing? Plus I know Martin will be bringing the HP. Should be a very good year for you.

Unfortunately, all my One Lap budget has gone to rebuilding the STi. So i'll basically be in the exact same setup as last year. I pick the car up next weekend, if it doesn't do anything funny while being broke in on the dyno.

I've heard that a crawford customer STi w/ high 500whp will be entering, but i don't think it's sorted for track duty, and i'm not sure about the driver (although i think he won some local small time attack thing).

The guy in the other black STi that was mostly stock last year is re-entering w/ an '06 built by Vishnu. It's the guy that took 2nd in the rain in roebling. He told me he has 425whp.

The oddball is the WRX that is entered. I googled the guys name and it's the owner of Alpinestars. I can't find any other info on it.

Good luck, see you soon.

Luke

This is my local track, so I'll try and be out to cheer you on. I have an event with the Porsche club the following weekend there, so maybe I can learn a thing or 700.

Luke, yea we are working on the widebody from APR.. if not, I will just hack up the fenders again. Either way.. 295 will be the tire.

As far as you bringing back the same set-up.. Don't think for a second I will starting counting you out. You were doing plenty well with that last year.. and I don't think ewe have the help of any ramps this year.

The other cars are stout for sure, it should be a good battle, i figure treat it like a Solo event. sort the car, run as fast as I can, and see where the chips land.

The Voltex / Original Runduce / CyberEVO wide-body kit is a much better alternative to hacked fenders.

Are ringer drivers allowed?

I curently hold the track record at Road America in E Production (2:29.9), and have thousands of laps there racing, testing, and instructing. Im sure I could at least help with your line and suspension setup. 4 miles is a long lap, hard to put a solid one together with limited tracktime.

As for Autobahn, I believe I ran a 1:14 there 100% stock at the last event. Only a couple of race tired supercharged NASA Mustangs were faster.

Let me know, Id be glad to help.

We can't have other drivers come in, so a "ringer" wouldn't be allowed. But.. if you are there I will take all the coaching I can get.

Set-up.. I pretty much try to keep the car the same where there is really no time to "fine tune" the car. We will get an out lap, park on the front straight, and then get 3 hot laps. Depending on how the car is roatating in the morning session, I might give a couple of clicks on the shocks or bump the tire pressures around, but overall a consistant car is better than changing it too much on this event.

Yea, we are not going to have hacked fenders, though, it does give a kind of "I am mean so i dont give-a-crap" type of persona.

Think about this.. you look in your mirrors you have the AMS filling them up, and it is taking a look down the inside and it's going to be close..

If the fenders are hacked up, you think the driver really cares if he puts a fender on you? Nope.. so you brake early, and let him go
