Winged Warrior 2006 updates

We have finished the drag event, and having a horrible time putting down traction, we ran an 11.27 @ 126 60' was 1.80 on that run, with lots-o-wheelspin.

At the time that was the fastest, with a couple of Bushur prepped Evos in the 11.5 and 11.9 range. The "main" Bushur Evo had also run a 11.5, but had two more official passes left.

Until we left, no domestics had run in the 11s, but there is about 5 hours for people to shop up and make passes.

I'm sure that car has a solid 10 second pass in it. You'll get there Good luck in the event. How does it work? Are there points and standings?

The car didn't have a 10 second pass on it in those conditions.. serious wheelspin.

I got a 1.68 60' on a practice pass, but paid for it with a 123mph or so.. we actually dropped the two-step down a bit, and probably needed to drop another few hundred rpm.. it is hard to say though, the 30-series Toyos are not the best for getting out of the hole.

Not sure what the standings are.. the plan was to do 0-60 and trap speed as competition..

they got the radar gun working, and the computer, but couldn't get the program to give a 0-60mph time.. so..

I think there were two competitions.. 1 for a 60' time, in which cause i have to settled with a 1.78 (Bushur Evo went 1.59) and a Trap of 126.4, which i think was 2nd fastest.

With all the confusion, I doubt we will know real standings till tomorrow sometime.

We switched to a smaller turbo so we'd get quick boost repsonse for the autocross. First passes where at 18-19psi (122-123mph) and then I turned it up to 20-21psi which is as high as it would go, netting us 125-126mph. Jon did pretty well for not being a drag racer :-)
We eventually lowered the two step down to 4800rpm and it still spun the tires hard. I think a few more practice runs would have brought the 60' times down and more consistant. A combination of stiff side wall road race tires, suspension, and immediate spool/power are hard to get off the line quickly.
Tomorrrow should be a good time!

Results:

1/4th Mile Trap Speed: 3rd overall, 1st Import
60' Time: 1.692 listed as 2nd Import, and 2nd overall.
Skidpad: 4th overall, 4th import
Slalom: 1st Overall
Autocross: 1st Overall

We are pretty sure we also won for the entire event, but we have to wait for the offical scores to be totaled up.

We actually added probably three trophies to the case.. maybe more. If we won overall it will give us trophies for: Overall Winner, Top Import, Top Autocross. (and I am still hoping for a top slalom trophy)

BIggest competition was different in each event, The Bushur car had the quick ET/60', but fastest trap (which was the competition) was a small-block turbo nitrous fed RX-7.

On the Skidpad another Evo won, followed by an STi, followed by a Civic hatch (and that Civic hatch and STi probably did great in the slalom)

For the whole autocross, here is the kicker.. Steven Rankins in the Boxer4Racing SCCA STU-prepped STi ran a 51.995 second autocross run... my winning and fastest time of day.. 51.990.

yes.. 0.005 seconds for first to second inthe autocross. (and my teammate from last year in SCCA Autocross, and my ride up and back.)
