Quick question: Wouldn't a stroker motor really limit your use of a turbo this big? If Chris's black Evo with a stroker & a 42R spools at around 5000rpms, wouldn't a 45R spool later than that?

The rev limit for a stroker is about 7500rpms, so wouldn't that really give you a short power band (less than 2000 rpms)?

Wouldn't a 2.1 motor that could rev to 9500rpm give you a bigger powerband and make better use of the turbo?

I'm willing to bet they are ringing it out a little higher than 7500 rpms. Probably 8500-9000.

Isn't that asking a lot for a stroker motor.... How long is it going to last at those rev's with this much boost...... I wouldn't think more then one race season.

The greatest challenge will be keeping the engine together.

The primary limitation with the long stroke motor and increasingly larger turbos is the tremendous piston speed, bearing loads, and big sidewall loads (friction) that must be endured, and extremely high power levels just amplify the stress. 8900rpm with a short 1.5 rod/stroke ratio and 100mm stroke yields piston speeds of 30 m/sec.

It may very well break the power record, but making more power is the easy part. Making it last is the tough part.

I might toss in that I did not see a set of cam gears in the list of upgrades, and given my data on the JUN 272 specs, you WILL make more power with a change in LSA and LCs for that cam set.

Ive have seen this car at ams before, very impressive setup. should make some serious power, specially with Martin tuning it.

Thumbs up

looks good but i think there is room for improvement on the list:

1) i would go with the HKS Kansai intake manifold with the nissan Q45 90mm TB option. tied with JUN for flowing the most air on an evo (but 1/2 the price)& works exceptionally well with the Cosworth head.

2) ditch the AEM & roll with MoTeC-enuff said

3) yank those 272 cams & get the Piper Drag Race 290's (u will need their valve springs also as they have 12mm of lift)

i wish u guys the best of luck. AMS is slowly becoming the U.S. equivalent of Norris Designs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
