One more reason for undertray: LICP destroyed!
Hey folks,
Last weekend I only managed to get in one clean run with my AMS 2.3 and 35R kit. I did an 11.1 with a 1.71 60ft on my first run. I'm a super-happy customer considering all the stock and almost stock parts on my car. On my second run, I blew my LICP pipe off. Literally OFF
. I figure that after blowing one end off, it must have scraped on the ground ripping the other side off. Then I ran it over
. If I would have had some sort of undertray on, this wouldn't have cost me a penny. So, the following lessons have been learned:
1. Use only the best couplers with the best clamps.
2. Keeping an undertray on may be a pain in the butt, but it keeps some parts safe.
Eric/Martin and Team: hopefully you have a replacement in stock (scratched or slightly damaged is fine) that I can buy for a some sort of a discount. If not, please let me know what this is gonna cost me. Alfred or I will call tomorrow (Monday) to order.
Enjoy the pics and notice how none of the welds cracked or broke even after being run over:

Smoggrunner,
I had my intercooler pipes blowing off for 3 race weekends in a row but I never blew the pipe at both ends. Your issue is very rare, it should only popped in one end not both..

LICP Run over
Thats why I went with a Wiggins Clamp at the turbo even though it was a PITA to make it fit. BTW Smoggy can't remember if you have gone to new motor mounts. We went with the Powerflex side and front mounts and that really helps keep the engine from moving and wanting to pull the LICP from the turbo. And it is no problem with vibration even with AC on once we raised the idle speed a tad.

A little aluminum polish will get that right out! Sorry to hear that.
Call Eric to day and we'll help you guys out.
On a side note, please make sure all the clamps are tight on the fittings. One thing I noticed is that that sometimes you can have some oil film/slime on the turbo outlet or IC inlet. Best thing is to clean all the ends very well so there is good griping surface and then tighten the clamps down hard. The reason we don't supply t-bolts is that it's easy for someone with a ratchet to actually crank down so hard it will crush the pipe. With hose clamps, it won't happen. I'm thinking we might offer the T-bolts clamps as an option to higher boost customers, just be carefull and don't go nutty those things. Again I'll talk with my sales guys and we'll figure it out ASAP.
Regards,
Martin

Here, eye candy 91pisstane and C16:
Thanks as usual Martin! You are always on the ball with the customer service, no matter how busy you are. I will sell this one near a college town, maybe it can be screened and used as a different type of "pipe"!!
