AMS at Import Wars 6-24-07 recap
While the AMS drag Evo was in Ohio smashing the world record AGAIN, Mark and I headed up to Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin for Import Wars 3 with my AMS / Turbo240 240sx and Mark's AMS GVR4.
I am defending my points lead in Frantic 7 class and Mark is working his way up the Quick 8 class standings.
Mark had an AWESOME day running a personal best 11.1 and qualifying in the number one spot. Mark made it all the way to the finals (not an easy feat in a bracket class) but ended up loosing in the finals not quite hitting his dial in. His second place finish should move him up quite a bit in the championship points race.
I however did not have as great of a day... Fresh off the trailer, I ran 9.2 @ 161 mph and then got clipped for not having an NHRA competition license. My first qualifying run was DQd and I was limited to 10.00 passes for the rest of the day... Second and third round qualifying I ran 10.4 and 10.2 letting off at the 1/8th and qualified 3rd. I lost in the semis by .008. 3rd place should keep me on top of the points standing as we had a new winner this race.
Track conditions were horrible today. I had traction issues all day long and felt more like I was in a drifting competition than a drag race. 60fts sucked and I was sideways or blowing the tires off the car every trip down the strip. The next race is July 21st at night so hopefully the track will be better and I will have my competition license by then.
A big thank you to Chris for coming out and supporting us with track side AEM tuning and for driving the AMS TEAM support / tow van. Thanks also to all the people that stopped by to say hi and offer their moral support.
See you guys there next month.

Hell of a 1st pass, everyone was wondering why you had to dial it down but no one had the concreate answer. Forgot about all that 9 sec license BS really sucks you couldnt go all out, but then again really didnt seem to safe to seeing as that you were getting squrley at the end of the track! Hopefully next month is better for ya, ill be there again hopfully racing this time as long as i can get the cash up for a new turbo by then. Nice runs the in GVR4 Mark! Anyone else see the "MR" that was running consistant 14.9's venting his hks on stock maf , i just wanted to punch him in the head for giving his 30K car the rice treatment eh. Good seeing everyone though
