Eric's new car......blasphemy!!!!

As most of you know I just recently sold my 06 Evo IX SE. It was something I did not want to do but it was something that needed to be done. Her replacement was........

A 2007 Subaru STI oh1:

I know its a bit of a stretch but We really want to make some nice stuff for the subaru line and what better way then to pick up one myself. I have to say its a great car.

When comparing the two cars they are alot closer then I had ever expected.

The only thing I dont like about the car is:

The steering isnt nearly as tight
The EVO IX SE seats BLOW AWAY the Sti interior
The damn thing is too quiet!

Other then that I could not be happier with the car and I cant wait to see what we can pull out of this thing!

Rest assured when the X comes out she will be going bye bye. Untill then I am going to have some fun with her.

Anyway on with the pics. The car had about 500 miles on it so what the next thing to do.... take it to Autobahn full course.

Mods:

AMS Flash
Endura-Tech Coilovers
Performance friction Z-rated front and rear pads.

Enjoy...sorry for the HUGE pics

Good luck with your new car. Nice color choice. They are a great car and as you know I had a 05 Blk one. I agree on the seats the Evo's are more comfortable with better lateral support. It will sound much better with an AMS TBE on there...I'm sure you guys will start to unlock the potenial of the Sti in no time.

At least you stuck with something similar to an Evo and didn't get something ghey like a Vette or 350Z. Sti's are pretty cool. I would take one above almost any other car, 'xept for an Evo of course. The last Sti I drove was nice, but too tame for my tastes.

Having owned both, I know what you mean. You have to admit that the STi in stg II mode is a better daily driver - toooons of torque from like 2500 whereas the IX comes at 3200 and the VIII more like 3600rpms!

Every one of my STi buddies go orgasmic over my IX seats! Especially the ones that track their STi's.

But yeah, to those that have owned both they are really night and day once you've had enough seat time in both. Unfortunately for me I never was able to track my STi to know that difference.

I have a buddy with a new STi that he tracks regularly. He says as far as handling and turning in full stock trim, the Evo takes it by a narrow margin. Once you start upgrading the suspension in either one, the Evo still takes it hands down. It turns into a night and day difference. A lot of STi guys that ride in an Evo will tell you it drives a lot smoother than the STi as well.

I have to disagree, I have tracked both and the Sti is much less prone to understeer unlike the Evo.

Dont get me wrong, both cars push but the Sti does it much less. A big reason for that is the center differential in the STi is much better. It enables you to send much more power to the rear of the vehicle. The evo can do this as well with the air of a cusco tarmac gear or GSC differential.

There really isnt a clear cut winner but stock to stock you can ask several guys that race the cars... the sti has a small edge in cornering.

Again for out right power the EVO walks away with it. A closed deck Iron block is a hard thing to beat.

Eric
