Headgasket woes....

I'm having a few issues with my headgasket. I was wondering which gasket you guys reccomend on a 2.3 with an o-ringed block?

Thanx!

The gasket might not be the issue. What headgasket do you have now? how many miles on the setup and do you still run what you have in your sig, the 93oct tune at 560whp?

Its copper wire o-ring, unsure on the size. Id guesstimate about 3-4k miles on the motor so far.

The 560whp was on 93 and an m15(SMC) jet with pure methanol.

eh, with the introduction of methanol the strength of your head gasket might not be the problem.

Have you pulled your head off yet?

No, I have not. I've decided to switch to pure fuels though regardless. Not b/c I'm worried about the meth and headgaskets, I just have this full blown fuel system going to waste.....and i like the smell of race fuel.

I'm trying to decide the gasket to go with so I can pull it off and reinstall everything, hoping for a few days downtime at most, though I don't drive the car daily.

Sounds like stock it is, with a fresh set of arp's this time, I stupidly reused the arp's for a 3rd time last time

Im concerened with the diagnosis of the car. Are you sure that its the gasket? the only real way to know is by pulling the head off.

Taking off the meth is a good idea. I would really look at the pistons for signs of detonation. Also this is a stupid question but you are Re-Oringing the block every time you take the head off right, meaning replacing the O-ring?

I'm about 98% that its the gasket. At idle after it warms up with the cap off the fluid will over flow from the radiator, and then a few bubbles come up. You refill the rad, and it starts all over, constant cycle.

Just for my information, what is it about the methanol that makes things worse, ie why is it good to remove it?

I was told that the o-rings could last a second time torque, so when I replaced the head(bad guides/valve seals) with this one, I did not re-o-ring it.

This time however, I am.

New o-rings, new studs, new gasket.

I have not removed the head yet, hope to in a few weeks, just have too much going on. I've replaced the plugs several times at different gaps, and eyed the plugs real well, but could not see any obvious to me signs of detonation.
