Coating On Manifold Coming Off?

Hey all,

Not sure if I should be worried about this or not..

I've had my AMS 50trim kit for about 6-7 months or so now.

I was just looking at the manifold yesterday and noticed this:

Should I be worried about this?

That is one of the reasons that we no longer offer coating as an option on our kits. We never made any money on it. It was just a service that we outsourced. the company that does the coating will not warranty it and in some cases the above happens. I am very sorry. It will not affect the performance of the kit. no worries.

Do you recommend against coating, or is it that you just don't want to offer it directly?

I have yet to find a coating that works and hold up. Even the almighty swain chips and flakes.

Yes most coatings could eventually chip or flake, but Swain actually works unlike most coatings, and will most likely not chip if applied correctly.

Has anyone had any experience with jet hot on a turbo manifold? I know alot of the v8 guys use it on headers and such but the temperatures created by the pressure in turbo manifolds creates a far hotter surface then on a regular tubular header on a n/a engine. It would be interesting to see if it holds up though..

SWAIN coating is nice but also pretty expensive. Personally I like the looks of a uncoated manifold. Jet Hott is nice but ive also seen that flake too.

Swain isn't much more than Jet Hot to a consumer. I paid $125 to get my manifold coated (by Swain). As far as Jet Hot, the 2000 coating is pretty nice and durable, but much thinner than Swain. My Jet Hot 2000 coated downpipe has held up great for 3+ years.
