75mm Throttle body

Currently my car is running the BBK 5.0 75mm throttle body on your vsr manifold. I installed some new stuff (turbo& icp) and did a boost leak test. There is a decent sized boost leak at the throttle body shaft . Have you ran into this problem before ? Is there an easy fix? Also i installed a 37r with the antisurge housing and wow does the turbo sound louder at idle.

Unfortunatly it seems that all aftermarket t-bodies leak in the shaft area. I have talked to many manufacturers about this problem and it seems like they think it acceptable and that they dont want to develop a leak free shaft design.

I had this problem on my DSM with the 75mm TB. First of all did you set your throttle stop correctly? Second of all the Q45 90mm throttle is a lot better, and they are cheaper!

yeah the stop was set up correctly. Sad part of this is i contacted BBK and the guy was cool and honest. he said that there is no way to get these things to seal with more then 12 psi. They are not designed for boosted cars.

I never noticed the leak before with the 35r. I just wanted to check everything out before i get retuned for the 37r and found this leak.

But this may be why my car will idle without an iac.

Yea, get the Q45 90mm Throttle Body. You can find them on ebay for less than $100. This will solve your problem. What intake manifold do you have? If you have trouble finding Q45 flanges to weld to the intake manifold. PM me. I make them.

Best part about this whole thing is that BBk will not sell anything to rebuilt this TB.
I disassembled the whole thing to check it out. For sealing on the shaft they have 2 tiny orings. And the bearings on either side of the shaft. In my case i blew the seal off the bearing. i tried replacing the orings with some better ones. and then after 20 psi it just blew the air like the was nothing holding it back. so now its back to the drawing board. I have had this TB for about a year and only drove with it about 2000 miles. So if anyone wants any advise stay away from BBK.

Q45 is the way to go!!I had the same problems with an accufab throttle body and I finally changed to the Q45 and no problems at all. Also its the sickest throttle body cause it has a very smart mechanism to set your idle.My drivability with this is far better than the 75mm!!!
