Emil, did you see a better pic than what I posted some weeks ago?
I thought it looked like an RA on steroids... same headlights shape, more aggressive body kit.
I still am told we will get it... the word is it would now be a model year 2006 though. I don't know who to believe anymore...
38,000$ would be a damn good price if you ask me. My bro paid 42,000 for his A4 with that lame 170HP 1.8T and no feel for the road at all! I've gotta start saving right now 'cause I'm getting myself one of these Evo IX!!!

How long has Mitsubishi been selling cars in Canada? I lived in the Toronto area about 6 years ago and there were no Mitsu's. If I ever saw an Eclispe or a 3000 GT VR-4 back then it was something else. Canada ROCKS!

pretty much Mitsu has said no Evo in Canada until they do a major overhaul of the Evo (which it seems they like to do every 3 editions or so)....there was an article in a british magazine saying that Evo will be overhauled greatly for the 10th version with one of the reasons cited was to comply with new British pedestrian crash laws or something being enacted by 2010. with a squarer front end being required, Mitsu is putting in a new engine which they're hoping can make use of a tmic. also, Mitsubishi is planning on overhaulling their whole line by 2008 to include 'Evolution' and 'RalliArt' versions of all models; so you'd have a cheap base model, then a model with few more bells & whistles and some more hp, then finally a model that's stacked to the nuts....I think it would make most sense that Mitsu would introduce the Evo to Canada at this point.
I would think the Evo X would run similar prices to the STi (so more like high $40k)
btw, anyone heard anymore news about if Mitsu is going ahead with the Lancer Ralliart Turbo for 2006? that's supposed to be like a 2 wheel drive Evo.

Traditionally, Mitsubishi produced Evolution models to comply with WRC regulations, which require the manufacturer to build streetable counterparts of the race cars. As a result, The Lancer Evo, Pajero (Montero) Evo, and Galant VR-4 were marketed with limited production.
Whereas the previous Lancer Evo (I-VII) were practically identical to the competition models, the 2004 Lancer WRC car is quite different from the current Evo VIII. The name "Evolution" has almost become a marketing tool, much like the M-series BMW and AMG Mercedes, and it's not surprising that Mitsubishi will spread the name across the entire model line. There are pictures of Colt Evo roaming on the internet, and there might well be others coming.
As far as the next Lancer Ralliart Turbo, it may share the same engine and drivetrain with the 4th-Gen Eclipse. Rumor has it that it'll return to force induction with optional AWD.

The upcoming Eclipse/Lancer Ralliart with Turbo option may indeed be comparable to the Evo, but will probably be producing slightly less output. A magazine editor pointed out that the Evo is the flagship of the Lancer series, and will always have a performance edge over other platformates to retains it's "superiority".
It may sound silly, but Japanese manufacturers tend to place their products in ranks... For example, a Civic Type-R will always be the most powerful Civic, yet it can never outperform an Integra Type-R, which will never outperform and S2000, and itself will never outperform an NSX.

Dr. Fob, in one of your first posts in this thread you said that the Evo would not be coming to Canada b/c it doesn't meet front impact regulations (which I knew about) nor does it comply w/ emissions. How is THAT possible?? The car is sold in Cali and they have WAAAAY more strict regulations then we do.
I learned about the emission issue from a Canadian Mitsubishi sales manager. I'm puzzled myself, because the solution can be as simple as an air/fuel tune or a more restrictive catalytic converter.
Maybe the Americans are lazy and didn't want to bother making the adjustments.

Still doesn't really make any sense though. I didn't think the evo would be part of the ULEV (ultra low emissions vehicle) but I figured b/c it was sellable in CA. state it would be fine for us here. I thought the California emissions councel pretty well dictates the standard for the rest of the country...and us northerners...heh
Anyway, some dealers say no Evo until 2006/7 whereas some albeit fewer say that the next iteration of the Evo, eg the IX will be available in Canada.
BC is the only province in Canada that is on an emissions trip really... However with MIVEC that shouldn't be an issue or at least less so.
Now that bumper on the IX doesn't look substantively differerent from an VIII unless they did some very fancy stuff internally especially for Canada...
Maybe they could sell us an Evo without intercooler and a retrofit kit for racing.
Waiting with baited breath...
If anybody has an e-mail address for Mitsubishi Canada (there doesn;t seem to bhe one on their website - I guess they can't be bothered to interact with the public), maybe that person can post it and individuals interested in the Evo coming to Canada can contact
Canada about it.
Public pressure certainly helped bring the WRX and STI to North America but Subaru at least publishes an e-mail address.
