Hey guys,
I am considering selling my Evo IX MR, and I currently live in Canada. I was told by my friend that people will probably pay exorbitant amounts of $ for my car if I were to sell it within Canada being that Evos are illegal here...
The thing I want to know is, if I were to sell it to someone, say for track use, would I get arrested? Am I allowed to sell this car in Canada privately???
Thanks...

As far as I know you can sell it here, the buyer will not be able to drive it on the street though.

you can sell it, but it doesnt mean the guy that buys it can put it on the road. just when you sell it, put your ownership unfit, this way they cant come back to you when they find out they cant put it on the road

I take it you're a US citizen living up there with a US registered car.
sure you sell it... just be very clear that it's not going to be street legal. with that said nobody will want to buy it since any canadian can buy any US evo and they just won't be able to register it.
so you have nothing special to them.

I meant could I sell the car to someone if they were just going to register it as a track car. I don't want to scam anyone I'm just wondering if there is any way to sell it legally.
Yes I am a US citizen.
I was interested in selling because my buddy was telling me that there are some very rich people who would pay out their *** for this car even if they couldn't drive it on the street.

take a trip and spend a couple days in a few dealers finding another car...

what do you mean? you don't register track cars. you still offer nothing special, it's not illegal to own an evo in cananda, but you can't register it for the street.Originally Posted by Eggy

Unless you can get the papers stating that the car is a competiton vehicle from the likes of SCCA, you can't register it at a track car in Canada.
Yes you can register and plate a competition vehicle, since you can't compete in the canadian rally circuit without proper street plates and liability insurance on your vehicle.
To get competition vehicle status on the car, you're gonna have to remove the interior and install a rollcage as well as fire supression systems (scca requirements). Plus if the car is pulled over on the highway when its registered as a competition vehicle and its like 3AM or there are no races, the owner is looking at some serious fines from the police, and they'll take your car
Any Canadian can buy an evo... and they can drive it on the street if they can manage to acquire a valid US drivers license and mailing address that isn't a PO box. I've already gone down this route before when I was given an AMAZING opportunity on a TB '06 IX SE down in Florida on my spring break...
Let's just say I gave up on all the BS paperwork and bought a Skyline

why are you registering a track car? just flat bed it to the track and drive it. obviously you can't drive it on the street ever.

I'm pretty sure you have to register a track car. It came up with the local subaru club when we wanted to build a club track car.

Canadians can get a US drivers licence easier than a US citizen assuming the Canadian has all the proper identification...
Canadians only need to present a valid Canadian drivers licence as well as a second piece of identification (ie. birth certificate, passport, etc)
I also have relatives within the state of Florida where I could register things too if I went that route... but it seemed like that'd be a pain in the **** at the present time, so I'm not going to be buying an Evo anytime soon
