Anyone have one installed in their Lancer? I want to install the grounding kit on mine, want to see if anyone has one done to show me. I'm in Scarberia.

 

I'm thinking about getting that Custom Grounding Kit in red offered by that guy, but I dunno if he's reliable or if it's a good buy.

 

i got one and it is pretty nice. not a huge gain but still noticeable.

 

Any local place to buy a set?

 

Doesn't look like they're hard to make, I'll stop by 2001 Audio/Video and see how much the wire costs, and measure the bolt size for the connectors sometime this week. Crimping stuff can be bought at Radio Shack, I think.

I just wanted to know if there was an exact procedure in installing the wires so I don't get shocked or something unfortunate like that. :P

If anyone can provide help, I'll throw together a few sets while I'm at it and sell them for the cost of parts.

 

Install is easy and you wont get shocked. First you loosen the nut on the negative terminal of your batter and hook up the 2 wires that go on that. then run one to your headlight grounding nut (all nuts are 10mm I believe) and then run the other to your engine block. Next hook one from that same terminal on the engine to your Throttle body then one from the throttle body to the other headlight ground. And finally one from the engine block to the transmission. there are stores selling auto stuffs in Pacific Mall...
the Chinese mall in markham....
they sell some grounding kits....should be from japan...
i remeber they r like $40 each....
not sure if they fit...but im planning to get one.....

thanks tokion, any chance you could scan the instructions and post them when you get it? i think i'm okay with all the direction i've gotten so far, and i'll find some time this weekend to buy the first set of cables and make the first set.

Errrr if I were you I wouldn't put anything from Pacific Mall on my car.......best bet is to make your own so you know what kind of quality is going into it or if your lazy pop $40 for some guy that has done them before.

Key thing to not getting shocked is unhooking the battery before installing any wires....if you need any tools or someone to help out gimme a shout I can probably help out with the cutting, measuring etc.

BTW if you see any red wire lemme know, I want to make a kit to match the CAI, valve cover, header cover and wire kit.

 

i dun really know abt the quality of those kits but i remember i saw that brand of the kit in some japanese magazines...

i just can't wait my friend to get me the HKS one from japan...
so wanna get some replacement for now...

That's crazy dude, wait a few days, let me get my stuff sorted out, and I will try and make some cables. If the test goes well, I can make a few and sell them for the cost of parts.

It seems very easy to do, and from what I've seen the materials don't cost much more than $60 CAD.

 

let us know what guage you used, and the size of the ends, and those of us with wire crimpers can just pick that stuff up too.

Anyone going to dyno once they get this on there? I'd like to see how much of a benefit comes from these things on our cars.

 

you could probs make them for about $20 man. i saw the thread of the guy that is making them himself and all they are is a length of 4AWG with ends crimped on. so easy and cheap to do it yourself. if anyone needs help or the supplies let me know, i work at Keith's Stereo in burlington

 

I'm going to be in Montreal this weekend, so this will have to wait for a while. I have a friend whose brother in law is an electrician, so hopefully he can get me 0 gauge for cheap (read: free).

OT: The MSRP for the full nose mask for the Lancer is $400?!?! I called the dealership asking because I'm driving to Montreal, and was quite surprised at that.
