Pictures won't change my view on the matter. Do HIDs look nice? Sure but I don't understand the point in spending money on a system that will actually make visibility worse.

Depends who the manufacturer, some companies has 8000k but theyre white as hell, and some 8000k is blueish...Best bet is too see them in person whoever has them here on the board and compare, and see if thats what you really like.

the lower the Kelvins the brighter and clearer on the road and not much glare especially when its raining..

these would be my choices:

4300K
5000K
6000K

etc..

hope this helps

My lights are 10X brighter than stock with my HID's, so how is that spending money on a system that makes it worse. Have you ever seen cars side by side, same model one with HID's and one without? Well I have, and mine were way brighter.

There's a difference between brighter lights and enhancing visibility. For someone like me (who does a lot of highway driving) HIDs are a useless mod. Moreover, putting HIDs into a non-HID housing can lead to all kinds of problems although I don't think this is a major issue for the 08 lancer compared to the 03.

10k are a waste! You will understand why people say dont get them if you do. Hell 8k is pushing it too. They look nice but thats about it.

For a show car they're wicked but for a car that actually driven, they're not only useless but dangerous. Hell I'm happy sticking with bulbs but I'm weird like that (ie. rather spend the money on other things).

There is no point in arguing with ricers bro just lock it. Fact is the higher Kelvin you go the less visibility at night you have PERIOD!!!!!!! Like some already posted.

All cars that have HID's from the factory are 4300K. Its the lenses that make them look like a different color. Anything higher than 4300K is a waste of money. All your are doing is putting less light on the road and more light into oncoming drivers which means its rice. I agree with the moderator, unless its soley for a car show it would be pointless.

Ahh I see, my mistake. I wanted to go for show for my car since it's slow anyways, once I get the RalliArt I will be going for performance plus show. So since i'm NOT INTERESTED in making this car a track car, and I put parts on because they look good to me i'm a ricer? My In-dash screen doesn't add HP, is that rice because it adds weight and technically makes my car slower? My definition of rice is when you add stuff to the car because other people have it, or ie: adding a huge spoiler to the car to make it look fast. Your guys definition seems like anything that you add that doesn't make power, or just because you personally like how it looks is rice.

Not at all, my definition of rice is putting a part on a car under the pretense of it performing a function when it reality it hinders that function. For example, putting a giant wing on a FWD car and arguing that helps with traction is rice, putting a giant wing on a FWD that is shown is not.

you cant even tell if your headlights are on at 10,000 and above hehe 2500k rules

Nokya Rock on.

If i could find a HID Yellow I would go for it

I doubt they come with 6000k stock. Most manufcturers use 4300k. Some 'look bluer' than others (such as Land Rover) because the projector housing has a cutoff which makes the colourband more visible.

If you just want them to look cool and not emit as much light to actually drive I don't get it. That goes for people who get them and don't have proectors. even cheap aftermarket projectors. The glare without is nasty.

4300k is comparable to a natural sunlight situation, anything higher and you lose lumens.
