They claimed exactly the same thing with the last lancer, ie. they're full of crap.

 

a diffrent muffler just allow better flow and allows the engine to breath better with an intake that mainly it. Also for me the 05 ralliart stock muffler is huge so changing it at least made some weight diffrence but not much.
