Unhappy Accident with 09 Lancer Yep..

This is why you should have winter tires on and never drive with summer performance tires. Lesson learned, I was 1 week away from getting winters on. Here's the story, heading out of the parking lot, driving 35km down a little slant of a hill. I make a routine left turn at 40km and car slides hard, i hit the curb with my right front wheel rear right wheel. Only thing i see damage so far is the front right "wishbone" it's not connected (snapped off) to the suspension and everything else is intact and no damage (Ball joints, rods and chassis etc is fine so far. Engine is unharmed. No body damage what so ever, rims are stratched to hell though.

= ( Ill let you guys know what else is broken if there is anything else and keep you updated.

Sorry for the bad quality pictures, taken on my cell.

Yeah G and Hydro, looks like I wont be attending that fairview meet lol. Badluck!

Got a friend mechanic fixing it for free. Yeah... anyone know where to find an aftermarket part for it? Dealers are quoting me around $350 for the spindle, and I got to wait for them to order it in, most likely by Friday.

not sure if there are aftermarket spindles for the 08 lancer, your car is still relatively new in the aftermarket industry. maybe run a google search

just get it fixed right, have insurance pay for it, that way you just pay a deductible but they will fix absolutley anything that was even slightly damaged. You could get a check from the insurance to cover the damage to the wheels/tires + probably the entire front suspension... just have a shop write up a nice expensive quote for the repair.

unfortunately for us insurance here rapes us whenever you get into an accident. he could report to insurance but it would most likely bump up his premium; either way he gets ****ed.

ive been in two accidents with the car once cost 2500 on the 08 lancer, another 1500. i did not report both accidents to insurance

What can I say... I live in a small town and the roads never get plowed or sanded/salted...

When you got crappy Dunlop tires, all ya do is lose control

everyone may have noticed their insurance for their lancer went up this year or at your renewal it may. I asked why, and indirectly, there was something mentioned a higher rate of accidents then expected during the winter of last year. they didnt say that was the cause of the hike directly but it was something mentioned with a wink and nood. lol

My beef is that this tire should not be equiped and called an all season tire. What I would like Dunlop and Mitsu to do is make a switch in tire to something which is completely do able and would not incur much added cost. Although I am sure someone somewhere can say that its not that easy. But the fact remains, these tires are out right dangerous.

The meaning of the words All Season Tire, directly means. you have a few chances in hell of getting to your destination in heavy snow. When you say Dunlop SP 5000 M that translate into = You have no chance in hell of getting anywhere in the winter. or my personal favorite, these are the wheels are coffin at first snow fall?

OK am I taking it too far? jokingly of course. but the fact remains these are the worst tires in class for winter seasons as seen here on tire rack.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS

The suggestion put to both Dunlop or Mitsu Canada would be a slightly different variant of the time tire.

If you review the same list above. You will see a these two tires on the same list.
The SP 5000 Asymmetrical
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....0+Asymmetrical

and the SP 5000 Symmetrical tire
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....00+Symmetrical

both tires feature the same basic design but a favorable winter semi capable design.
