Have you tried taking the engine cover off or changing the oil?

Yeah that's not good then, maybe the valves are messed up.

Could be... maybe its just always sounded like that and I never noticed haha.

I mean it's always had a small ticking sound but it was never that loud. There's a 2nd ticking that kicks in too once its been sittin for like 10 mins... it makes a lovely rhythmic tune

Mitsu always does my oil changes. It started sounding like that after my crash but I took it to Mitsu and let them drive it around and check it out and they said my car was perfectly fine mechanically....

So...I dunno...

Well I do trust the Mitsu guys, but I had my mechanic check it last night and he took the covers off and listened to the block and such. He thinks its the fuel somethin (I forget what he said haha) or injectors?

Seeing as the Service light is always on right now, the car's not gonna tell me if there's a problem. Whenever I have time he says I should bring it to the shop and they'll hook it up and do a reading on it but until then I guess it's a mystery!

Don't put too much trust into Mitsubishi when getting things fixed on your car under warrenty.

As for the noise, it doesn't sound normal but remember the lancer's sound like f@ckin diesel tractors. lol

the mechanics at mitsubishi, like all humans, are lazy. especially when it comes to warrantied vehicles, im sure they adopt a "if its not too bad just ignore" kind of mentality. I have first hand knowledge as I know people who work at mazda and toyota as licensed mechanics and they constantly fill me in on horror stories when customers bring their cars in. put in an ugly way, they just don't care that much.

anyway, try to get your mechanic to do a OBD II reading on the car, it will most likely show errors with the engine if there are any. if you have a friendly mechanic he might not charge you (they really shouldn't; it takes them literally 2-3 minutes just plugging in a socket) but i've heard people get charged 80-90 dollars at stealerships etc.
