WAY too common like the WRX STI, oh ya cuz I see those driving around like Hondas...pfffft I've seen 4 since they came out.
Why don't you just use the extra 10k and convert it to RHD?
With 10K, you can make USDM EVO better than the JDM evo. Plus, you dont need all that extra craps that are available to the JDM. Even witht the USDM, it is already pushing an average driver to his or her limit and beyong. Its performance is up there with porsche 911 and MP3. So why pay the extra money for something that you can get for cheaper. Plus, the USDM evo rear bumper is better looking in my opinion. 10K of mods and it is one fast EVO.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to import a car into Canada from another country other then the US? Pretty much impossible. Have you ever seen or heard of a street legal JDM Evo in Canada? No! Don't worry about paying 10k on shipping because by the time you finish crash testing three other Evos and paying for all the mods that will have to be done on your Evo to legalize it, you could well go and buy yourself a Ferrari Enzo. There's only 5 of those in Canada.
whatever, EVO for sale in winnepeg. I live in toronto and allot of us here would love an evo but they ain't for sale in canada. I am not calling you a lier but it is hard to believe that winnepeg is selling evo's before toronto, montreal or vancouver.
There is one new yellow USDM Evo VIII for sale in Vancouver owned by a Mitsu dealer. They want 58k for it. They found a loop hole to bring it across and register it. They also had to do some mods to it (day time running lights, etc) without having to mod the front bumper.

For $58k you could buy a WRX STI + taxes + delivery, add a boost controller, get some Tein Coilovers and a Turbo Back Exhaust.....and run circles around that Evo VIII.
Talk about overpriced!

Sound's like your dealer is full of BS. You can't order a Evo 8 in Canada from
Canada. Legally it would be impossible to get a JDM one into Canada unless it's over 15 years old. Read the regs here: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importusa/impxus_e.htm

Never mind that you'd have to put a 5cm high sticker on your car that says RIGHT HAND DRIVE on the back of your car. That'd look real pretty.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the ministry actually requires the s. 142(6) thing now.....because the whole sticker thing didn't work...ie they'd peel off.
(6) A mechanical or electrical signal device shall clearly indicate the intention to turn, shall be visible and understandable during day-time and night-time from the front and from the rear of the vehicle for a distance of 30 metres, and shall be self-illuminated when used at any time from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 142 (6).
Finally, no cop is going to ticket you for such a stupid thing.....the HTA knowledge of a basic traffic cop is speed, stop, red light, etc. Then the PACER and Racing people know more.
I've seen several British vehicles with no indicators on the back.

Forget that law. You can't even bring the car into Canada in the first place. No alterations are allowed to be made to the car to comply.
Vehicles manufactured for sale in countries other than Canada and the United States do not comply with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, CANNOT be altered to comply and CANNOT be imported into Canada. The only exceptions to this rule are vehicles fifteen (15) years old or older
