thats what I heard from my friend, he wanted to buy one but then his sister told him that radar is illegal...........

I wish radar was illegal because then the police couldn't use it. As for detectors in Vancouver, not as far as I know, mind you they are the only ones trying to keep photo radar in all of B.C.

Radar detectors are legal here in BC. Besides if they were illegal then why would Radio Shack, London Drugs or A & B Sound sell them? They would be the first places the gov. would target if was illegal.

 

yup radar is illegal only in some of the eastern provinces like ontario.

 

but just because a store sells something doesn't mean it's legal with the law.

 

yeah like NOS and turbos, i've heard that they're legal only on the track not on the freeway....but who cares...rules are meant to be broken

 

I doubt big stores like I listed would break the law knowingly. It wouldn't be good corporate PR.

 

It used to be at one time that it was legal to sell radar detectors but illegal to use them. I guess someone finally thought that was too stupid and changed it. Go figure.

 

It's also illegal in Quebec.. If they find one in your trunk for example (not connected or anything) they'll seize it, along with the accompanying fine... :-/

 

the radar detector is LEGAL here in Canada, BC, Vancouver....
me and my friend was using one and there was road check...
and when we get checked, the detector keep beeping and
the police didn't say anything......so, I know it's legal...and also
i asked police too............

 

i guess not like those lisc. plate reflectors (from the photo radar days) they would plainly say on the radio where to buy them... but then say... it's perfectly legal to buy them... you just can't put them on your car...

 

I just drove from BC to Nova Scotia, and in every province except BC there is a sign saying radar detectors are illegal. My parents friend in BC is a cop and says that they are legal, and BC is the only province he knows about where they are.
