Evo for sale in Burlington.....

ok, I see all you guys wanting an EVO so bad, well there's one for sale in Burlingotn for 45,500 used form the U.Sl with about 6 k on it. I called the dealership and they said they are right now ironing out the safety issues and they will sell it here. Insurance companies will insure it, I have one coming and MIC has quoted me already.

here's the link.

New Evo = $29995 US or $41000 CDN

A Used Evo w/ 6000 miles is worth no where near $29995. Try $25,000. or Like 35000 CDN.

And with 6000 miles on it you just KNOW it had the **** beaten out of it for the little while that someone owned it.

So what exactly is this "dealership" doing to fix the safety issues, manufacturing an ENTIRELY new front reman bar and crash testing it to pass safety? Because that's the only way it's getting registered up here. They probably bought it figuring they can make a huge profit off of it, and little do they know that you can't get it registered or licensed up here.

People go on and on and on all the time about seeing Evo's in Canada, I have yet to hear about an Evo with an ACTUAL Canadian license plate.

Here's a list of things that it has to comply with according to RIV:

Passenger vehicles
• Recall clearance letter - Not sure about recalls
• U.S. statement of compliance (S.O.C. Label), at the border - Doubtful this occurred as the person probably drove it across the border and sold it in Canada, so Customs is probably not aware its STILL in the country.

• Canadian statement of compliance label will beissued after passing inspection - 10 days after purchasing the vehicle you'll be issued a letter telling you to pass compliance.
• Valid alpha-numeric 17-digit VIN - Yes
• Metric speedometer and odometer labels - Not sure
• Daytime running lights, if manufactured after November 1989 - Nope, you'd have to pop for a kit or modify the lancer day time running light module to make this work.
• Infant restraint kit, if manufactured after 1988 - ?
• Child tether anchorage, for most passenger carsmanufactured after 1988 (refer to Admissibility List) - ?
• 8 km/hour bumpers (refer to Admissibility List) - Nope, they'd have to be manufacturered and tested.
• French supplementary restraint system label for airbags that require periodic maintenance - Nope, also would have to be manufactured or sourced from another car

Finally, this went up on RIV a few months ago I just didn't bother to post it.

dude, if you wanted to you could import an FQ 300 from england, there are always ways around things. These are just cars, you're alson not allowed into the country with a felony record but it happens a lot, I work in that industry.

have faith, politics is a easy push with this stuff.

Dude, I'm sorry but I'm not interested in an Evo. Honestly If I had the money to buy an AWD rally-inspired car I'm going with an STI. Simply because of the paint and clutch problems with an Evo. And in general I have read reviews from consumer companies that the STI build quality is better than the EVO. But that holds true for most Subaru cars compared to Mitsubishi cars.

On the same topic of importing "dream" cars, here's something people should consider before spending $45,000 CDN on an Evo. In August, 1989 Nissan built the first Skyline R32 GTR, RB engine, 5 spd, AWD. Canadian law stipulates all non-conforming cars that are 15 yrs or older are eligible for import in Canada.

August 1st, 2004 all R32 Skylines, be it GTS, GTR that were built in August 1989 become eligible for importation into Canada, and so on for those built in september, october, november, december.

How many of those cars are still around you say? Lots! Good condition? Anywhere from rebuild projects to Like new! Kms? I've seen from 40,000 all the way up to 200,000. Potential to modify? Unlimited, it all depends on what your budget is.

Simple arithmatic:
Used Mitsubishi Evolution 8: $45,000 + Tax

Imported 1989 Nissan Skyline GTR - $9,000-$32,000 (this includes shipping to Canada and all the paper work)

Hypothetically speaking you buy a $16,000 GTR, you spend another $10,000 modifying it. You have a car that will eat everything but only the most wildly modified Supras, Stangs, Vettes.....and will stomp over 99% evo you come across.

Not only that but you only spent $26,000 on it. About the price of a Ralliart.

this is evolutionm.net right? this is for ppl interested in the evo. if you want fast go buy a mustang cobra add a pully, diablo chip ,exhaust and run hig 11's low 12's all day.

The evo is built for goin around corners fast. That's why we like it and it's unsuspecting. Alot of ppl love that car and for good reason.

The STI is of a better feel but not proven. the ej25 is not nearly as proven as the 4g63 and with only a couple grand in mods the evos run low mid 12's all day and corner like a pinball, it's all a very well thought out car, one of the best in the world. Remember this is the watered down evo for NA, wouldnt' the FQ be a droolfest here? same with the subaru 22b but we got what we got.

It may not be your cup of tea and honestly I can't wait to see a few r34's running around the streets of toronto, hell tt supras are in short supply here.

To each his/her/their own, I personally hope to see a massive influx of high powered imports runnin around town, that would be great

well i WENT to the dealership to check it out since i live there and this is what the sales manager had to say:

dealer: "We are currently trying to get through all the paperwork...basically we are trying to get permission to sell it if we guarantee that we do all the modifications necessary to make it legal in Canada"

me: "so what mods do you know of that have to be done?"

dealer: "Well, the front re-bar has to be upgraded, drl's have to be added, and a child restraint system has to be put in that conforms with safety reg's...right now it's just a pretty show car (laughs)"

me: "how far are you into the process and when can i trade my car in for one?"

dealer: "hopefully by the end of next week we will have permission to do the mods and then we can actually put the sticker on it and sell it"

me: "how much will it be?"

dealer: "$45,500 for sure with all the mods done"

so that was our conversation...and btw, the dealer can NOT get you seats from the evo, i tried, but they come all in seperate little parts: cushion, hinges, bolts, brackets, etc....the spoiler is another story though, they said $800 CDN painted to match and installed

I also went last night @ 6 pm and talked with Donny, the young bald dude and got the same info except that the car was goin out saturday to be worked on and Monday he is calling me as I've booked a test drive with him as soon as they can get it on the road. They also told me that a lot of ppl have called and are interested and that has prompted them to gather more evos to scurry up here.

The Dealer manager has a friend in Georgia (where this car is from) and they are workin out a deal to split a few evos off to canada. The problem is that each dealer get x number of cars and that's it. The 8.5 is supposed to be here by next year but may be a whole new design. Canada is on the dist. list. YAY.

So now it's a matter of fighting for it now or waiting for the official arrival, I'm one who'd take it now and through downtown mitsu I'm gettin mine very soon sans intercooler.
