do a search in the canadian forums for "brokerage fee", you'll see lots of us have gripes with the customs fees, and the shipping methods used.

I heard using U.S. post is the best way....might save you a bit? Did you get them to lower the value of the bar you bought?

I called them to find out everything, it was $139.00 and he said it would be about $15.00 to ship. Customs charges are all our responsibility. They use UPS Ground and they said so we dont get screwed on customs they try and do lil tricks to get it to lower like: gift, $50 product, lil stuff like that.

jtc, what canadian forum u talkin bout?

well, i'm glad to see they're actually reading the forums and paying attention, because they didn't used to do that, and i got charged 25% of the item's value for both my CF grill and my k-bar. good to see they're listening, they really do have good products.

Road Race told me that they can't put it as gift .....but can lower the amount. There is still no guarantee because customs can hold it and charge you for a different amount and then you have to dispute it....

Let me know how much you actually had to pay extra when you receive it...... I heard that sometimes you get a bill a couple of weeks or so later for brokarage fees? Good Luck

We have to start reading the forum.

We always try to help Canada guys by putting a lower value in but we have to put something to justify insurance and minimize our risk. We put down $40 for you Go Lancer Go. Hope that helps.

Nice, ROCK, was wondering when you'd respond to one of our *****-fests.

Now I can order from you guys with more confidence. Once bitten, twice shy, as they say.

Go Road///Race!

Hey Rock,

Thanks for the help!! I wasnt *****ing or n e thing...I jus hate the fact that Canadians have to pay so much on custom charges and ****, but again...NOTHING WE CAN REALLY DO ABOUT IT.

BUT...I am really excited to get my 1st RoadRace purchase, its only b/c everyone else on this board has bought something from that site and I havent yet.. I think its been like 6 months now, I always look on the site wondering what the 1st thing i was gonna buy from there. I was deciding between the k-bar and the short throw shifter. I think the B&M short throw shifter will be next on the list. Well...maybe the eibach springs...well see

for no brokerage ya have to use USPS, under $35us value, person-to-person (no company-to-person), and mark as gift.

Get the company to put warrenty replacement in big letters on the box. that way you dont have to pay duty or brokerage. I have been doing that for years. The item have a moneitary value for insurance purposes but customs cannot charge you for something that you have already paid for and is just being replaced.
Amen
