Buying a Lancer RA

Alright, I'm new here and new to the whole "sport car" scene. I'm pretty young and I'm planning on buying my an RA with full down cash. I live in Canada and the RA I'm planning to buy is about $24,000 with all the extra stuff. I was wondering if they give any type of rebates with cash? Is it a good idea to pay with cash or would I lose my money in the long run? I'm just wondering because I really don't want to spend all my saved up money to have the depreciation be huge and if I ever re-sell it think back that I should have never payed all that load of cash. I've really been trying to gather all the info I can on this cae and I've researched Mitsu and the RA as much as I could. But, I think it's best to ask people that drive them and actually have experience in them. Oh and fyi I plan on buying the car sometime within a year. Oh and will the '05 be out within a year?

Don't flame me, I'm new! lol

theres a $2000 cash discount when paying full down. Then the rest is up to your bargaining.

Alright, I think I could work them down more... it must be somewhat easier to bargain with cash then trying to geta better deal with a lease. They know they have a sale if you bring in cash and they want the cash, I'll just wave it under their noses, make em drool a bit. Hope it works... lol

if you have the $24k in the bank, leave it there

what options are you getting with your RA? i paid only $20k plus taxes for mine and yours seem a little high

there is a 0% 48 month option.. which means you get to keep yoru money in the bank while you pay no interest.. money for mods

Only $20,000? The one on the website is more then that lol, well it's fully loaded, everything and anything you can get for it, it has. Well in the next year I'm going to have about $35,000-$40,000 in the bank. I'm not out to buy some fancy *** WRX (Number one they are hideous beasts even though they are pretty awesome perfomance wise) and I don't want an RX-8 or anything 'cause I'd rather get myself a nice RA since the Evo isn't available and mod it up a bit then use the rest for the rest of my University.

I do like that four year financing though... one more extremelly noobish question, are you able to pay more then your monthly payments and decrease the amount of months left? Like pay $10,000 at one time?

Wow... that's pretty good. I guess it would be a good plan to have all the cash but finance 'cause them i'm not dropping a massive amount of cash but if I choose to pay it off I can so without penalty... thanks

Oh and is there any Lower Mainland lancer club or anything? lol... I feel kinda dumb asking that, haha. It's just I see all these American clubs and people that get together and stuff, seems kinda fun...

If you'll have that kind of cash in the bank next year, you might want to hold off, and wait for the EVO. It will be here next year, so if you can hold off until the real deal shows up...

i doubt in 05.. maybe in late 06 the evo will come

if you can wait that long wait.. otherwise drive the RA now and enjoy life

i didn't get the sunroof (added weight, less headroom) or the sound package (added weight, weak *** sub anyway)

Yeaa, I don't need the sun and sound package I guess I want an Evo damn it! haha... I wish I could import one ****ing regulations, grr.

What would you suggest? I'm looking for opinions and stuff... I don't think I could wait untill 2006-2007... would I by then be able to trade my RA in? Hmm... I just don't want to drop a bunch of cash into my RA and mod it up to have the Evo come to Canada in the next couple years and feel like I made a mistake... know what I mean?

EVO is slated to come out for the next MY, (that's MY05) which means it could be here as early as this fall/winter, or as late as next summer. But all the internal press I've seen has it slated for next year.

Also, Joe says he doesn't think the sound system is all that great--it might not be, compared to some really nice setups, but I think it's a good bang-for-your-buck deal. You don't lose much trunk room, you get way more bass, and better sound quality all around, and they throw in a sunroof! 'Course, I'm a little lackluster on the reviews, 'cause I think even the base (that's the basic--not the bass) system is alright for what it is.

EVO 9 or 2005 EVO 8? 'Cause I could import an EVO 8 2005 then 'cause only up to '04 is inadmissable... lol. So the '05 will be sold in Canada or you're just saying it will be out?

EVO IX, not the VIII. If they were gonna bring up the VIII, it'd be up here with the MR. I wish
