Canadians: Why'd you buy Mitsu?
Thought it would be interesting to hear your responses from a uniquely Canadian perspective...
Here is my admittedly long-winded Mitsu story:
I always liked the pseudo-Mitsus, disguised as Dodge's, from the early days. Always lusted after Colt 200's, Eagle Talons, and of course the 2000GTX. Later I appreciated the AWD Summit wagons, the fuel-efficient Colt (Mirage) and of course my beloved Raiders (Monteros). When I finally ended up buying my first vehicle in 95 (at the ripe old age of 25), after having spent entirely too much money/time with University education
, it just had to be a Mitsu: Bought an 88 Dodge Raider, 4wd 4banger. While I loved the truck, the engine was too weak for a heavy "box-on-wheels", so I got my second Mitsu in 99, an 89 Raider V6. Reliable, bulletproof, & very capable.
My job now requires me to drive long distances, so the truck is just not practical from a gas standpoint. Waited for the long-rumored Mitsu dealer to open, went in, and got the Lancer I'd been eyeing since it deduted in the US last fall...
What're your stories...?

Lets just say i was always fond of how the Eclipse looked.
Not to mention the Evo. THAT i really loved. Looks good, performs very well (with a good driver at the wheel anyway)
And besides, with all the hondas and mazdas around (too many around, dont get me wrong, they are very good cars also) its just would be nice too see something else on the road.
There will be a time eventually when i get bored of seeing all the lancers and eclipses but for now it will do.

like anything else....you always want more what you can't have. Now
is finally in Canada.
But, that's not the only reason. Mitsu has a good track record, some of the most advanced technology in it's cars and they have some pretty sweet looking cars!
There are very few companies that produce a 4 cyl engine with the potential of it going well into the 300hp mark. The evo 8 is going to be very extreme...i just hope it comes here before i'm too old to enjoy it

on the road, especially the Pajero, I followed also more than 12 Paris-Dakar where the
has always been there, but winning only after Jean Todt leaved PSA (Peugeot/Citroën) for Ferrari.

I want an evo because it's original.. we don't see 439057834 like a protege5 or civic or sunfire/cavalier or focus or _____ (put car's name here).
but with the new movie 2 fast 2 furious we might see way more lancers on the street

ive had a really bad experience with Ford, so i want to try something on the other end of the spectrum. not to mention ive heard alot of great things about the Lancer and i want a ride that looks killer. plus, i havent seen ONE Lancer in my area so i'd have a car that no one else really has
I'm currently owning my first car, it's a dodge colt 200e, 1991. I bought it used one year ago. It's a love and hate story!
It's still fast I beat the hell out of Hyundai Accent GSi haha!
The motor is pretty strong, my car have 247 000 kms on it and I'm still beating the hell out of it.
The only problem I have with this ride is the price of the parts...
Suspension cost twice than honda. Manifold Exhaust cost twice, o2 sensor 3 times more. Breaks cost more to change on it than on my dad brand new CR-V.... (4 wheel disk breaks that are like twice the size of mine...)
That's the only problem so far. I'm looking foward buying a brand new Mitsubishi next year, but I will first check for the price of the parts... It will be prolly something like a Lancer OZ (if they can put some power upfront) or an Eclipse GT. I want to keep the car until it dies, so I hope to make something like 10-12 years with it. As for now, the only Jap that don't cost a lot to maintain when they get old are the Suzuki and Honda...
Suzuki = crap
Honda = good but all the people I know have one or 2 in their parking....

If your car is a strong as mine, you still have 10 years to do with it;-)
Mine is at over 450 000km and it just won't die! I think I'll buy a new lancer by the end of summer, before the 04 gets out. By this time we'll see if the 04 wil have more power as rumoured and the looks. If it's a too big step in insurance costs, then I'll go with the 03, or the 04 if the insurance stays the same and looks are good.
Oh and I'll keep my volvo at my parent's for winter or when I'll do mods on the lancer

Hmmm...My buddy in Nagano had a turbo'd Lancer.
I liked the way it looked, and the sound of his blow-off valve.
I got two kids, so the four-door 0-Z is convenient.
IF anyone up in Canada want's my ryde, I'll drive it up for you.
I'm Canadian, so it'll be a no brainer to return to the US without it.
Click on the link in my sig to bid for it on eBay Motors.

I was always a lowrider enthusiast then had to give it up for school and ended up with a Pontiac Sunfire...
So one day I decided to test drive some cars just for fun took out a WRX, BMW 5, and more realistically a protege5 when I noticed a new dealership being run out of a trailer...
Drove the Lancer and bought it 4 days later

Probably the best car I drove in the test drive, and the most fun. Little bit of everything, really. The look, the drive, the handling. I might have waited for an Evo to show up, but given the wait, I'd rather be driving now.
Besides, who wants to be like everyone else in a Honda/Toyota/Mazda?

I'm at 256000KMs now, still running good with my Colt 1991, don't have put lots of cash on it. Motor is running good, don't drink oil.
Can't wait to get a job since I have finish school, to get a new
.
Was thinking Eclipse or wait for a Lancer Ralliart, don't want to spend 30000$ US for a Lancer Evo. It's a great car, but my insurance would cost me something like 3500$ / year... so no thx.
