The important thing for buying a used AP is to ensure that the AP has been unmarried from the owner's ECU. If the AP is still married to another person's ECU, you will have to pay an extra fee to Cobb for them to unlock/unmarry it as far as I know.

The AP also has a lot of maps for applications you may be using it for, but the tunes are very conservative so that it may be used for a lot of different types of vehicles with different bolt-ons and still keep the engine within a relatively safe tune. That being said, you will not unlock the full potential of your motor's tune unless you have your vehicle pro-tuned by a Cobb certified tuner or you tune the vehicle yourself, which I believe you can do with AccessTUNER Race or whatever that program is called, or by having your car tuned with another program like Ecuflash with a Tactrix cable.

Just as long as it is unmarried, a used AP works exactly the same as a new one. Just make sure you dont get ripped off. I bought mine brand new for quite a bit less than the advertised price of $595 shipped to my door by a forum vendor. You get the 1 yr warranty when buying new. I would say a used AP should be no more than $350 - $400.

You may also want to ask what tunes are on the unit or you would have to hook it up to your laptop and download the "standard tunes" if they are deleted.

Bought mine used. No problems at all. Just make sure it's unmarried from the previous owner's car.

buying used sounds like the way to go unless the fs forums are dry.

It's fine to buy used, as long as everything works.

Also, I would "Reflash" all of the OTS tunes. I've heard of people editing maps on used APs to **** with the next guy's car.

Hooking it up to your laptop should be done no matter what, this way you get the current firmware and most up to date maps available.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at getting a used one myself and was wondering the same thing.

I have 08 GSR, will any AP work with this car?

i have a 2011 and got my cobb from a buddy with a 2010, you can use the same one just have to download the maps for it. As long as its unmarried its worth the buy.

VERY worth it. Safe tunes, able to read/clear codes, able to log/live monitor just about anything. Versatility to switch maps when ever!

Will this mess with the warranty if you are able to go back to stock before taking in for work?
