Running rich on Stage 2 OTS AMS 93 Oct

Is it safe to run a bit rich while on the map. I have all the setup needed for the map but instead of having a stock cat I have a test pipe. Currently I have.

List:
Custom Titanium Catback exhaust system
Ichiba Test Pipe
AMS Intake with Apexi air filter
Titanium UICP

Cobb: Stage 2 OTS AMS 93 Oct map.

I'm seeing 14.8 AF on idle which is ok.
12.8-14.2 on cruise
9.8-11 on full throttle.

When I let off after hitting high boost around 4-5k or higher I see the AF go near 9.2 for 1-2 sec before going straight to lean at 20.8. I backfire a lot. Also after the closed loop opens, goes from 20.8 straight to 12.4 then slowly lean out to 14.6 for idle.

People say I shoot a lot of black smoke when I get on it. Is this ok to drive as is? I been on this setup for a year and a half. I'm about to go in a custom tune down the road but I'm wondering if i did any damage to the engine running this rich?

Would having a UICP leak somewhere cause to run rich too? or Intake piping too?

I would suggest just going to a tuner and not using an OTS map. The lean burns arent good, and 9.2 is rich enough to wash the walls

Yes, a boost leak will cause you to run rich. Also, Stage 2 OTS maps are designed for a HFC, not the stock cat. Running a different air filter than the OTS map was designed for could also throw off your MAF readings, thereby affecting your AFR's. The AMS OTS map is designed with the K&N air filter that AMS supplies their intake kit with.

OTS maps are fine if you stick to that exact mod list, but when you start mix/matching and changing things up you really should get a custom protune.

Thanks for the response guys, I'm having someone do a compression test on Monday and make sure all is in line and he'll do a custom tune on it based off his car and work from there.

You're in IL. Have you considered AMS? Top-notch tuner.

The problem is I change parts so much that I don't want to keep spending money to retune so I tried doing the OTS for a while. I'm finally coming down to a point where I'm actually happy with the parts on the car. I went through 3 intakes, on my 4th exhaust, 3rd UICP, went through 4 BOV but now back to stock BOV.

O.o Damn haha. Any reason you switch so much? Just don't like the sound?

naw, each part after each other is a upgrade. In the end I think having custom parts will do me in.
