Going to Stage 2 - Questions
Going to Stage 2 - Questions
Hi Guys,
After about two months of running stage 1 on my car and loving it I have decided to purchase the Cobb's stage 2 kit.
Just have a few questions:
1) Do I have to reflash back to stock and then to stage 2 with my accessport or can I just install the stage 2 kit and flash directly to stage 2.
2) Should I have my local auto body shop install the kit or should I have the dealer do it? (I don't feel comfortable doing it myself)
3) Roughly how much should I be looking at for install cost? and how long does it take (hours)?
4) Is the sound better with the new exhaust system? (I never feel youtube does exhausts justice
Thanks
-Nick

1) You can flash directly to stage 2 after you install all the parts.
2) If the dealer does it, they'll void your warranty. If you can't find local Evo guys to help you, then take it to a performance shop.
3) Maybe a few hours. Depends on mechanic rate, I'd say roughly $80 an hr times 2 hours or so = $160 to $200.
4) I love the sound of the Cobb exhaust. Nice, deep, louder than stock but not ricer boy annoying.

Also not sure which stage 2 you're doing, but if it includes a intake, make sure you use the right map that includes whatever intake brand you're using.
Example: If you have a AMS intake, use Cobb Stage 2 + AMS

Im doing an off the shelf stage 2. So my car will be all stock except for whatever is included in the cobb kit.
I was assuming my warranty would be void anyways so thats not too big an issue. I just want to make sure it is installed correctly
