What intake to run with AP?

I have a stock 2013 GSR. I am planning on buying an intake, AP, and UICP. I was thinking that I want to buy the ETS or AMS intake but I am not sure what map to run with those intakes. I have not found any maps for those intakes, not sure if I'm searching correctly. Would I be better off to just use the Cobb intake or could I use the Cobb intake map with one of the other intakes?

Later I plan on getting an intercooler and tubo back exhaust. Baseically the same set up that AMS offers with thier custom map. So I was thinking of starting with thier intake, UICP, and AP until I can afford the rest of it.

We used the ETS Intake and the Cobb stage 2 map with Cobb intake. No knock at all the car was running perfectly fine. I highly recommend getting a protune regardless though. Every car is different and a protune will tend to you and your car perfectly.

Let us know if we can help you with your future purchases. I can offer a package deal price if you interested in getting everything at once.

Only use the Cobb SF intake. there's a reason why they say only use their intake. Thats what was used while building the maps for the AP. Otherwise you need a custom tune

As the TUNER above you said, there are other intakes that will work with the Cobb maps. The ETS runs fine with both the SF maps and the stock box maps, because the intakes are very simular. They both use the stock maf houseing...

I was thinking it would be ok for the time being until I get my custom tune. I don't want to spend money on a custom tune and then have to get another one when I get an exhaust and IC.

You'll be fine. We put about 3000 miles on the stage 2 map with the ETS Intake with no issues. You can email me a log as well and I can look over it to make sure your car is running good. No charge

I had the ets for a week on a stage 1 stock and sf map, I didn't like how it was running and I decided to go with a cobb sf intake. If i was just running the ots map for a short time until a custom tune, I would definitely have stayed with the ets. The sounds is amazing and gains are pretty nice. The only reason i switched was because I thought I was gonna have time to go to english racing this summer but, work has gotten pretty busy and i doubt that I will have time to go get a pro tune.
I am selling my ets intake, less than 3000km and has all the hardware. Pm me if you're interested.

Ran the ETS with the Cobb AP stage 2 for nearly a year. No issues. You should be good.

Running a Cobb SF Intake with perrin intake inlet. No real issues except for erratic idle with the AC/Heater running. A heat shield should fix that.

I don't think it is worth it to buy an ETS intake, and then not getting a protune to get the most out of it. Might as well get the cheaper Cobb intake.

Its worth it if your plan on getting a pro-tune in the future. If you can run it safely with this set up, then later don't have to change it when you upgrade the turbo or go E-85, seems worth it to me.

Not sure if any of you guys read the notes attached to the maps you are using?
Map notes specify that only products the maps were tested with should be used. Otherwise you will run into performance issues.

checkout the map noes tab on cobbs website.

Of course other performance product companys will say its okay to use different intakes or exhaust systems that they sell. C'mon people. They want to sell their products! Regaurdless of the impact it has on you car

It's highly advised not to do it by Cobb themselves

Our new OTS maps were calibrated for use with either a stock airbox or our SF Intake system. These cars are extremely sensitive to intake modifications so you want to ensure the tune is correct. As was previously mentioned, there are definitely cases where customers have used other intakes with our OTS maps and not had any issues. Some just need some minor tweaks to the MAF calibrations using Accesstuner Race. If it's something you choose to do, I highly recommend datalogging the car to ensure you're not running into any dangerously lean conditions.

and COBB is trying to sell thier products also. Its been tested not just by shops but by evo owners everywhere. I know of 3 people here local that ran the AP with the ETS with no problems. Just check your knock and your AFRs and you should be fine.
