Cobb AP alter Evo mpg calculations

I have tried to search and cannot find the right words to describe what i am asking.

When i reflash my ecu with the accessport, will my dash mpg calculator still be relevant or will it not be accurate. My understanding is that the calculations are based on miles traveled and fuel consumption so it seems that it should still be fine. But if it is based on throttle opening or something then the calculations may not be accurate.

That's a great question. Will the new A/F ratios and other modifications to the maps render the MPG calculation inaccurate? You're right, it depends on what factors mitsu's mpg algorithm uses. IIRC the Accessport claims better MPGs, but whether or not the display is accurate is another question. I'm going to guess it will still be OK, because most cars today have enough sensors to monitor ACTUAL fuel usage, and not just theoretical based on the computer.

MPG calculations will be accurate regardless of tune, until you start changing hard parts like fuel injectors.

Thank you for the response and as seen from cobb they say it will not change which indicates the ecu monitors fuel usage
