Noobie questions about OTS maps and current mods.

Hey all,

I just acquired a 2012 Evo X GSR and it came with some mods and a tune. I need quite a bit of help for tuning my car as I am new to Cobb and completely lost when it comes to tuning. Here is the mod list:
  • AEM intake
  • MXP cat-back exhaust
  • ETS resonated test pipe
  • Upper & lower intercooler piping
  • Greddy FV BOV
  • Grimmspeed 3 port boost controller
The issue I am having is the previous owner has done a custom tune and the car seems like it was not tuned properly (While drive the car cut out for a split second like a fuel cut) and the wideband is erratic where it read from 12 to 16+. So I am thinking about going with Accessport and run a OTS tune for the time being till I get some more parts and go for a custom tune. But I had a couple questions. Would any of the OTS maps work with the current mods I have? Or do I need to follow the Cobb parts guidelines to a tee? Does anything need to be changed or added ? Any other things else that anyone could think of that I might need to put into consideration?

I am in Vancouver, BC Canada if that makes a different for the maps. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

With your mods, stage 3 is where you want to be. If I were you, I get another tune seeing that a AP will run you about the same $$$, that plus you get more out of a protune anyhow.

Given that you still have the cat installed do not try and run a OTS stage 3 map. If you check the map notes there are some guides in there that outline the mods required to run that stage tune. If you ran a cat delete or HFC with an after DP you could then look to run a stage 3 OTS map from Cobb. I think your best option would be to take to a trusted tuner and get them to check the tune on the car. At worse they will suggest you retune the entire thing at best they can confirm that the tune is good for the mods.

Sorry just re-read that post and saw that you have the test pipe, sorry ignore the above however if you are unsure have a turner look at it you could have one of the e-tuners here look at the tune as e OTS stage 3 is not aggressively tuned so you could get more power from a proper tune
