Evo X Final Edition : cobb APv3 does NOT work on all models and Cobb is not saying
I actually got an email response from Sam Parker at Cobb Tuning yesterday saying that there was some Beta firmware update released a few days ago that resolves the issue and that a formal firmware update is being released in 3 weeks. Personally, I have not tried it but I will wait for the Formal firmware release.
I have the COBB Stage 3 tune installed on my FE I'm running the beta software which you can enable under the settings of the program. I'm running
ETS intake
ETS UICP
ETS Open downpipe
ETS Test Pipe
ETS Extreme Catback V2 Extreme
Turbosmart BOV
Grimspeed 3 port Electronic Boost controller
The tunes are solid. A/F ratio and Boost are fine. The car runs like a dream.

I have never used an AP, is there anything I should watch out for when helping my buddy get his setup?

Good to hear. This is exactly the setup we will be running on the FE except for the turbosmart and we are running a high flow cat.

As for the AP itself it's very simple, just follow the instructions and plug it in before you turn on the car etc.. And I wouldn't recommend turning off the car in the middle of flashing it unless you want to turn your car into a coffee table
Best advice is take your time, read up about it, and in my opinion never deviate from the parts they support for the tune you are using. So don't add things to it and think it will be 'ok'. If you deviate from the parts list they have, get a protune.

We originally got the AP to use for a safe driving base map until all parts are installed and we can get a pro tune. Also it seems that it will be a great tool for my friend to use on his new Evo
Yesterday Cobb officially released a "public" of there AP tunes. I been running their "beta" tunes on my car for about 2800 miles. One thing that was wrong with my stage 3 tunes is that it was always throwing a P0171 code. This new revision takes care of all the lean/rich conditions that was occurring before. This revision is much much smoother than before. I recommend everyone gives it a go
