I am using a HKS box from Buschur, easy install, works, and is compatable with the AEM. As in Malibu's post it allows you to get away with cold plugs , I run BPR9es on the street and it idles perfect, and it's cold as hell here.

The stock turbo will only flow so much CFM; not enough IMHO to flow 124mph no matter what other accessories and parts you throw at it.
Just my 1.5 cents.
The man ran the times, that I don't doubt; just not all the "details" are being revealed.

Man that 124 is hurting the hell out of you eh? Not what you have alot is how you have it.

Let it all out man.

You mean: "It's not the size that matters. It's how you use it?"
That might be true up to a certain point and after that size DOES matter.
As in the size of the turbo.

Curt, This controversy rules.. It makes your accomplishments all that much more satisfying to me and gives me a bit of comfort in knowing that I'm not wasting my time with some of my efforts.

And the other post about doing things that other people typically overlook and others might disregard.. Your absolutely right! But this has been something I've always said. individual Improvements don't always have to be dramatic to be worthwhile, and usually the cumulative value of several improvements is alot greater than their individual value anyway.

Also, like Curt said, his tune is on the edge... One thing that really needs to be pointed out is that in order to run times like this, you have to be willing to risk it all in your driving and your tuning, and this is where experience counts most.

Whatever your opinion on what you consider stock, visibly stock is usually enough to be considered stock in "This world" and although Curt has mentioned he intends to run a biger turbo, and he has his super-secret head work being done.. I'd really like to see further efforts by others with stock-ish turbos..

There are still "things" out there to be done to a stock evo turbo that although not major, can offer improvements... So I plan on sticking with the Evo twin scroll of some variation...

Early on when I proposed ignition upgrades, I was told by most of the established tuners that it offered no real value, but now its almost commonplace to make that improvement.. I took a risk early on (over a year ago) by importing a titanium turbo and 10.5 housing, the housing is now a commonplace mod.. What I'm saying is not everyone wants to share their secrets, but these secrets aren't rocket science, there really just small cumulative discoveries driven by gut instinct and experience.

Congrats Curt.. PM me I have a possible additional stock turbo mod you might want to try before you go to your bigger turbo... And get some traction on that thing.. I want to have that bar pretty high when I try to cross it..

Thanks for answering my questions. I'm at 114.97 and am looking at a couple of mods that would get me to 117 without stripping down my car or sacrificing daily drivability. From your setup, I can easily see a few easy (some expensive) mods.
Lose the 264 in favor of a 272 intake cam.
Lightweight wheels
Lighter rotors
SMIM?
Throttlebody?
Ignition amp?

I am in the same boat as smogruner here (115.3 traps) but since I am running the AEM EMS I am more interested in your tune. I will NOT use your tune because I am not trying to set any records and this is my daily driver.... but I would love to see what your ignition curve is like for race gas. Last time I was on the dyno I ran out of time before I could tune the ignition for the pump gas and I feel I probably left a lot on the table by not adjusting it.

Thanks,

Keith

Congratulations again Curt! WORKS was delighted to hear about your interest in the Aperture II and (as with all of our customers) glad to hear feedback on our products. It's been a pleasure talking with you and I hope you achieve your quest for 10's on the stock turbo before the end of the season. If not, I look forward to hearing about it next year

nice run.
The original Aperture: http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=30
The Aperture II that Curt is using: http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...roducts_id=117

Both will bolt to the OEM manifold, but the opening of the Aperture II is larger than the manifold inlet and WORKS recommends either modifying the inlet or going with an aftermarket manifold to take full advantage of Aperture II. The original Aperture perfectly matches the inlet of the OEM manifold and requires no other modifications.

I'm actually planning on picking up the Aperature II.. I have a spare intake manifold that I plan on extrudehoning and matching to the throttlebody and the ported head..

Wow Curt I am impressed I ran an 11.8 @117. I only have 6/ 10ths to go . That is awesome. Just curious as to what kind of a/f ratios you are running. I max at 11.4 under full load. What you have achieved is just awesome on the current setup you are running. I know you run the Aem and have heard there is a feature where you can keep your foot planted on the gas and when you shift the Aem automatically drops the revs like a lift throttle shift. Basically a powershift without the negative results. Do you run this feature on your car? Congrats again man.
