my point is i'm damn near stock and still capable of pulling 1.6 60 footers. it must be luck, or maybe cold weather... wahtever it was, without much mods, quick launches are still possible.

you'll need the 1.6 60' to stay ahead of the cobra especially if you're near stock.

Last night I raced an 03 cobra convertible. He wouldnt go from a stop mind you, so these are from about 38-40 mph roll. The first race, I should have been in second, but I started in 3rd. He pulled a couple cars and then held steady. That was my fault completely. The 2nd race was perfectly started and fair in everyway. In the second race we held even. In the video you will see that it looks like I am starting slightly ahead, I am not though. Its just the camera angle, I dont know why it looks like that.

Here is the video:

nice race but dang with all those mods i'd think you'd be able to pull on him. I guess in that situation he was taking away your biggest advantage, the start.

From a roll those cars are very strong stock. If they can pull 1.7-1.8 60 fts mid 12 s stock in the 1320. So it should be about even with a pump gas heavily modified Evo from a roll. Both should trap in the 109-111mph neighborhood. Problem with the Cobra is the launch with the IRS and from a dig he would of owned him.

Also, The cobra wasnt completely stock. Exhaust with no cats, cold air induction, and 315 width drag radials. I belive he had it retuned also. So not heavily modded by any stretch, but still not stock.

a properly driven cobra would have no problem with a properly driven evo, stock for stock, from a dig or a roll

a cobra can hit 12.5 bone stock, while the evo is in the mid 13's...cobra also traps higher

you guys go too much on urban legends....sure, a cobra doesn't launch as well as an evo, but it's not that hard to cut 1.8, 1.7, and 1.6's with properly heated nittos

Thanks for all the information. I am having my new cams installed this week. Going with the GSC 272/264 set-up with a retune on the ECU. I think it should be a close race with the cams. I am looking for the 12.4-12.6 range after the install. I will post up the results if I can get this guy out to the track.

I've seen them run 12.5 @ 115 bone stock so unless your modded and a good driver its not even a race.

Actually a properly driven Evo with the proper driver will be a closer race, as an Evo can run flat 13's. Just check out Motor Trend when they tested out like 10 cars back in 2003.
