With a really good driver, a high 12/13 flat is possible, and has been done with same mods. People dont realize gears in a 5.0, are like getting tuned for the evo, completely wakes the car up. My friend who has an 88 5.0, same mods put also a lower intake mani. pulled dead even with me from a 40 mph roll( could of taken him if I was in a lower gear, but not by much) these cars might not have as much horsepower, but they have alot more torque than us in stock form.

 

Make sure he is on street tires and you will win hands down if those are all the mods he has.

I had an 87 Mustang GT. ford 8.8 with 3.73s, subframes, suspension, headers, h pipe, flowmaster 3 chambers, underdrive pulleys, 24lb injectors, computer, throttle body, intake, and no ac and ran only 14.2s with it at 99mph. Granted it was set up for road racing, but you'll kill it hands down whether he is on a tire or not

 

I agree, I've owned 3 modified mustangs and none ran like my evo.

You'll destroy him. I live in Austin, TX. and this city is infested with Mustangs, I have probably ran atleast 15 of them and I only lost to one, it was a blown Cobra with plenty of mods and we went from a roll. Had we gone from a dig I would have won. I also own a 5.0 with more mods than that kids and my Evo will beat it by about a car length. Problem with most mustangs is traction. Run him, he will go home with his tail between his legs.

A 5spd with those mods...im guessing you mass air converted it...with good tires should do 12.5's....so you just cant drive!!!

you don't realize how slow these cars really are. I did not have a cam, intake plenum or any of the real go fast goodies for this car. 2.1 on pure street tires is all she would do.
In the Evo I consistently pull low 1.6s and run slow traps relative to my ETs. Thats an indicator of someone who CAN drive

 

There just seems to be these types of guys everywhere...lol...there is this one guy in town that swears up and down that all imports suck with a mustang just like the guy you speak off...this guy also owns a f-150 and spray painted imports sucks with flames coming off the side of the letters on both sides of his truck...talk about dumb...kick his ***...

 

lol my bad ldstang, that was my boy with a 5.0 earlier on my computer( he gets mad when people talk about mustangs). Ive been in an auto one, they were slow, but the 5 spd. felt like a different animal. Obviously its not the car for me( I got an evo..hint...hint) But 12 second quarter mile for less than 4g's.....including the car, cant go wrong.

 

I Can almost say for certain he dosnt run faster then mid 13's. I guy i work with has a 92 with a carburated 302 with every bolt on possiable and heads and some huge race cams and he ran a 13.00 on drag radials.

 

Hey thats cool. Thanks for clearing it up. I don't bash on Mustangs, I might have come off harsh. But I respect Mustangs espcially 5.0s. They and DSMs are some of the very few cars you run into on the street and not know if it runs 14s or 10s
