Yeah it was your post! LOL!!! Yeah I know how the fasteners work but I stripped mine and just ripped em out - I think I will put it back in ... But yeah I havent heard to many good things about this Turbo XS MBC (its not the High performance on either) ... Yes my boost is set HIGH because of it tapering so much - Figure I'd make up for it hahaha ... Thanks for your info though!

Might just have to order a hallman!

Hmm, yeah. If you have to overcompensate for taper by raising your boost really high, then that's a bad thing. You're making the turbo work much harder than it should to make that amount of boost. A bad spike could also cause fuel cut (not bad) or potentially detonation (really bad).

Wow a 12.08@117MPH at LACR is really impressive. Yeah LACR is one of the worst tracks. Times are really slow due to a combination of factors such as elevation, but track conditions also suck. Still 14.5@90MPH is not good, even for LACR (and I'm talking stock EVOs, this guy is modified, so that's even worse).

****ty mbc, I used to have the same one, now I have the hallman RX evo and it holds 21psi till 7k and tapers like 2psi past that. My turboxs tapered and ran like ****. Also you are prolly runnin rich because of your bov.

Yeah I've read stories about this TurboXS MBC ... Its not the high performance one nor is it the dual stage one .. It acts more like a bleeder type valve ... I need to come up on a hallman rx pro with the quickness ...

04 EVO
Turbo XS MBC
Greddy Type RS
5Zigen Miracle Fireball Catback Exhaust
RRE Rally Cat

Defi BF Boost Gauge for reading my boost.

Reaction: .381
60ft: 1.999
ET: 14.537
MPH: 90.869

This was @ LACR in Palmdale (www.lacr.net) so according to there calculations based on altitude I ran a 14.037 ... I know I could of worked on the 60ft a little better... On my first run I heard something leaking and 4th gear would hold boost @ 1.0 BAR... I attributed it to my snorkel and removed it .. it did better but still 90MPH? Come on! I should be trapping near 95+

The stock 05 (albiet the 10.5 hotside) even had a higher mph than me and he was pulling on me! I think perhaps its a leak - any insight?

I can peak @ 1.4-1.6 bar but it always tapers down to 1.1-1.25 .. Comments/Suggestions/Opinions? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LACR is a tough track. First, was the boost that you were running the same up at LACR as you were closer to sea level? When I ran my Talon, I would be running 21 PSI in L.A and when I checked my boost at LACR, I would be at 16 PSI. So you always have to reset your boost level to compensate for the higher altitude. I also had to lean out my AFC about 5% to 7% leaner because of the thinner air. Your car will run much richer at Palmdale/LACR, so you got to lean it out some to run your best at that track. Now after you've done all that, you could figure in your calculations based on altitude. I would always run 4/10's to 5/10's and several MPH slower when I raced at that track versus when I ran at Carlsbad. I haven't raced my Evo at LACR yet. I may check it out now that I have a way of leaning out my AFR's with my new XEDE. Good luck.

LACR seems to be a very slow track. I have been there many times and the fastest stock evo I have ever witnesses was a 05' mr with a 13.7, fastest stock sti 13.8. I was there Wed and 3 sti's put up a best time of 14.5 with many passes in the 15's the only other evo there ran 14.2 with full exhaust, mbc, intake. Oh, it was windy like always almost right in your face. Your times were slow my guess is the snorkel, you were getting poor air flow. Just felt like piping in.

the evo is not a drag car. buy yourself a mustang or hit the track and stop whining.
