EVO engine blew up with NOS

Hi,

My friend took his car tonite to the track, he was running a 75 NOS and he blew his engine big time.

Intercooler pipes exploded as if you put a grenade inside on them
intercooler is bent from the extra pressure of the back fire, the end tanks are rounded like a balloon
Battery has several holes and also leaked all the fluid in the engine bay
Melted several electrical harness
the BOV is gone, physivally non existence
the Cams position sensor is gone
The hood is melted from the fire
the metal heat shield on the hood is melted
the intercooler hoses exploded

That is not all, we think that a lot of **** went through the intake manifold and or the throtle body and we also think that the turbo sucked some **** as well.

By the way, he ran a two times before the engine blew up:

His mods

03 Evo
75 shot NOS(wet) directly to the upper intercooler pipe
Megan racing headers
bigger O2 turbo Housing
3" Turbo back
Fuel pump
Dynoflash mail in
Exedy clutch with Exedy light weight flywheel

He ran a 12.85@108 Spraying NOS
and a 12.75@112.50 (this time is when his engine blew up)

His best is a 12.3@114 before(same setting)

Other runs from other cars:

Mazda RX-8 18.1@81 16.66@85.71 16.4@85
My friend'ss Mustang GT with supercharger 470whp 12.68@116 on drag radials and gas mixed
Supra TT 14.1@96
04 Cobra 14.1@103
Many mustangs GT 02-04 high14's @96-98

The pics are working fine but damn!! Did it destroy the MAF sensor while blowing the airbox up?

We are not sure because this just happened not even an hour ago. We highly suggested him to not even crank the engine up.

I don't think that he could even start the engine at all with such huge hole in the intake.

Myself and some other EVO owners are going to try to find out how bad the damage is. We believe either the turbo and or the Intake manifold has debris in it.

I offered the guy some help with some used parts, I have the Buschur upper IC deluxe kit(Battery, upper pipe and BOV) therefor I should be able to let this guy have my stock BOV, battery and upper IC pipe.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what he should do next?, I mean, even the Intercooler is bent. Should he just not start the engine at all and just remove the heads and see?

It's a good idea to tear out the engine and inspect it. Was this mail-in flash tuned for nitrous?

I doubth it. I know for a fact that Al don't recommend mail flash when you are running NOS, it is common sense, the NOS requires some good tunning and the best way to do it is a custom tunning.
