11.9 @ 119 on gt35r

hey guys. Went to track tonight with my evo8. Im a little dissapointed with the night, but now know what I have to fix.

decent passes were:
12.06 @ 117.12 1.731 shifting to early at 7400rpm 27psi missfiring in every gear
12.00 @ 117.98 1.688 shifted out of 1st to early. missfiring in 4th 25psi
11.92 @ 119.52 1.831 spun tires on line and backed off. 25psi gapped plugs to .022
11.95 @ 118.08 1.802 spun again. missfire in 4th again. 28psi
12.19 @ 118.65 1.944 spun ALOT, let off and bogged. ran clean 26.5psi.

The mod list is:
GT3582 precision turbo with "DSM bolt on" turbine housing.
BR cast turbokit manifold, BR 2.5" o2 housing modified for tial 44 external
3" turboback
AEM EMS, 850cc injectors, walbro 255.
ACT clutch
2.5" aluminum IC pipes, Tial bov.
3" intake pipe with K&N under hood placement.
hks 272's

stock cam gears, fmic core, intake manifold/TB.

ambient temp was about 80-84* F. my intake temps were between 95 and 98* at the start of each run and went to 125 to 128* at top of 4th.

Im planning to install the BR race fmic core asap, hopefully that will make a significant differance. Will also make a 3" cold air intake pipe to help the AIT.

After I try out the FMIC upgrade, I have a magnus SMIM on the shelf to install.

I didn't have much luck with the driving this time, got to get used to the evo8 as I have been racing my talon awd all summer (10.0 @ 147). It's allot different. Running 245 45 17 Falken RT615 tires that are very new. They didn't hook up anywhere near as well as I had hoped. Iv previously ran low 1.6's pretty consistently on Kumho ASX all seasons, so Im normally capable. maybe track was bad tonight? whatever...launch's werent' good all night.

My major issue is ignition missfire. anything more than 26psi and I was getting ALOT of missfire. looking into upgrading to stock 1g DSM coil/igniter/wires. I was running nk BPR7ES plugs gapped down to .022.

The AEM EMS was showing between 390 and 400whp peak from the datalogs. Its' showing 380+whp from 6500 to 7800rpm, most of the rpm range the car is in going down the track.

I should have been able to pull a 11.65 to 11.70 with the 119mph trap speeds if the 60' was where I normally get in the mid 1.6's. oh well.

just figured Id share

I did some research last night and Im definatly going to try and wire in the stock 1g dsm coil and igniter on the evo8 and ditch the stock coils. See if that helps.

Keep us updated on that, and good luck. I think the fmic will help out too.
