Took the car to the track...semi-dissapointing..

Only got in 4 runs...3 w/ limiter 1 w/o

Best time & 60' was WITH limiter

RT: .884
60': 1.816
330: 5.458
1/8: 8.467
mph: 82.53
1000: 11.055
1/4: 13.239
mph: 103.43

Best I could get w/o the limiter was a 1.9x and like a 13.3 @ 102

Now i'm a pretty quick shifter so that saved me some...I think w/ more practice w/o the limiter I could do better..I don't think I was building enough boost while revving.

Also I think I could improve the times with better shift points...at what RPM would the 'experts' reccomend?

Temp was 78 deg.
Had OVER 3/4 tank of 93
Car is showroom stock 05 Evo VIII 'gsr'

I'm going back friday and hopefully can get some runs in at night when it's cool...I'll try to do it on 1/4 tank too..

I assume you have an '05 b/c you say "limiter." Do you mean launch control?

If so, IMO that is pretty darn good. That damn launch control is tough to get a good 60' with.

I ran my car three times with the control with a best of 13.0 and a 1.92 60'

I disconnected the launch control and ran a 12.6 with a 1.74 60' also probably a ton more wear and tear on the drivetrain, but I was happy.

Eqivalent to a Buschur stage 2 with FMIC.

I know there's more in it though...I've seen much better than 1.8 60s w/ the limiter...

Open the panel thing on the lower part of the driverside dash...reach in to the left of the fuse panel and find white plug going into fixed black plug....remove white plug. Win.

there is a white plug underneith the dash.... a little left of the clutch.

I would recomend doing this for the strip only. when you disconect the limiter your revs dont drop like they should. for example if your driving at fifty let off the gas revs will not fall you will still be going fifty. kinda like cruise control

Nothing disappointing about that. 1.81 on the limiter is great. Only a few people are hitting 1.7s using the limiter, and that's usually with the clutch restrictor mod and SS clutch line. I got a 13.1 at 104 on my first try when i didn't even know what that damn limiter was, and that was with a 1.92 60'. My next 2 tries I got 2.4 and 2.2 60's due to the limiter completely throwing me off and making me think I broke something. Your 1.81 is way better than most in stock form with the limiter, so there's no reason to be disappointed. With a mid 1.7, you'd have a 13.0 or 13.1, which is where the better 05 drivers are. 13.2 is a time that a lot of people on here don't even beat with 300whp...

well I know it can go faster....I think my biggest problem is the 3-4 shift..which I'm doing at around 7K, I wonder if 7400 might be better...I'm shifting too fast as it is..since I'm already in gear and foot off clutch before the flywheel drops enough RPM (getting a 'semi-bog' on shifts)

I'll tell you though I really wish I had an MR 4th is just sooooo long...

I will say that the 1st time I tried launching (parking lot) I def. burnt the clutch, as well as the 1st time at the track (although not as bad) but the other 2 runs were fine as well as the non-limiter run, no smell at all.

I think the biggest thing w/ non-limiter launching for me is getting my timing in step w/ the boost-building revs...

Well i'll have more to report on friday...when it's gonna be 10-15 deg. cooler

Not really. You don't want to burn your clutch, but it happens sometimes. I smell my clutch when I make a mistake, so I try to avoid that as much *** possible.

I shift at around 7200-7300 on the 2-3 and 3-4. I also powershift the 3-4, but I always have gotten mini-bogs when on pump gas. THe only time I get immediate, full-boost response after speedshifts is when I'm on race gas, and I think that's because I'm able to tune far more aggressively and not go rich between shifts. I'm not exactly sure what causes it, but it happened when I was stock and still now with the mods listed below (on 93oct).

Well, first off, never dump the clutch. That's the first problem...

There are many methods, but the way I do mine is I get the revs up to around 5500-6000, then I SLIGHTLY start to release the clutch until it grabs. Just as it grabs enough to remove the drivetrain slack and move the wheels, I hammer the throttle and release the clutch. Keep in mind that when the clutch starts to engage, it wants to pull the rpms down, but I give a little more throttle to keep them up. THis provides load and starts to build boost. If you hammer the throttle before the clutch has grabbed fully, you will burn it and smell lots of nasty clutch odor. IF you time it right, you won't smell anything, nor will you shock the drivetrain.
