05 EVO8 with intake and tbe

I went to the track tonite finally with the EVO and ran consistent 13.0XX but I just couldn't break the 12s for anything. This is in a 05 evo with fully interior and full tank of gas. The only performance mods I have in hks intake and a full turboback exhaust. The best time was 1.928 13.017 @ 106.2. I was just wondering what others have run with similar mods. I know my 60' was horrible but even when i pulled a 1.81 it was still at 13.0XX. All runs were done shifting at 7500. I have 272s, fuel pump, ebc, LPI IC pipes and arp headstuds waiting to go in. I was also wondering what other people have run with similar mods. I searched but didn't find much other than the "stock" 05 that trapped at same speed as me.

You have the traps for 12's....launch harder, shift faster
btw did you unhook the limiter?

A 106 trap is good for 12.7's. Just a little more practice and you'll be there.

The good thing is that your trap speed is consistent with your mods (although I'm surprised your untuned intake isn't hurting your performance), I agree with all three of the replies above.

Actually, it is. 106mph in this weather with a full TBE is not sufficient. I suppose he hasn't read the 1000 threads saying not to run an intake like that without a tune. I also noticed that in his list of future mods, he still didn't have any tuning device, so I hope he decides on that next.

The only thing keeping you out of the 12s is the driving, though, because 106mph is an easy 12. You can see Stinkapuss' times in his sig. I also ran 12.8 at 106.3 with just an S-AFC, and then later ran 12.64 at 106 with cat-back and mbc. You just need to get a 1.7 60' and then shift faster.

Yea I plan on getting a Dynoflash with my next installs and then a UTEC and run AI. I didn't unhook the rev limiter and I think that was part of my problem as well at the track. It was my first time out with the evo but I definitely need to work on launching.

I wouldn't suggest getting a flash and then a UTEC. No reason to spend your money twice on 2 separate tuning devices. If you're going UTEC, then just get UTEC.

Also, fix your sig. You type'd the 0 with a 9.

WOW! I'm jealous, that's a very good run!.. I have the same setup but with a 03 and the best I got was 13.7. You should be happy with those times.

Yea I am happy especially since it was my first time at the track with the EVO but I really wanted to break 12s. O well in the spring I am sure I will with the rest of the mods installed.

Try shifting earlier, 7500rpm's is alittle high for no cams. I shift at 6900-7000 and have gotten a 12.3 at only 108mph so you should be 12's with some practice.

Also try running it with less gas in the tank. 1/2 -1/4 tank.
