first time at the track with the evo today

Well i finally got to the track with my evo... Went to MIR today for imports vs domestics. This was my first time launching the evo too so i think i did well . btw i launched at 5k using the stock launch limiter on all 3 runs, i have a 05 evo 8, only performance mods are full 3" exhaust w/o cat, and good old shell v-power!! jk.. Weight was 3460 with me in it today on the track scale. The 3 runs went like this.

1st run. Let out the clutch too fast and bogged off the launch a bit. Shifted into 2nd at 5k rpm's, shifted every other shift at 7k.

R/T .222
60FT 2.083
1/8 8.822 @ 83MPH
1/4 13.576 @ 104MPH

2ND run. Again i let out the clutch too fast and bogged it off the launch. Shifted into 2nd at 7k, rest of the shifts were at 7200.

R/T .397
60FT 2.024
1/8 8.604 @ 83MPH
1/4 13.356 @ 104MPH

3RD run. Finally i slipped the clutch slightly and got a decent launch. Again shifted into 2nd at 7k, but this time i tried to take the other shifts to 7400. Dont think this worked out for me. Or maybe my car was pulling timing. Not sure but something didnt feel right to me at the top of 3rd .

R/T .385
60FT 1.895
1/8 didnt print
1/4 13.317 @ 102MPH.

I dont understand what happened on that last run. I lost a tenth in the 60 ft and somehow only lost 4 hundredths of a sec. also lost 2mph..

Im really happy with it tho and think i will keep this car for a while.

Wrong forum, but your new so we will let it slide...

You don't understand what happend on the last run? You said so yourself that you tried a different technique and you don't think it worked out very good, which is correct. Shifting at 7400RPM is not a good technique, you probably would have ran a very low 13 if you stuck to your original method of shifting. Your probably not gonna see 12s until you get your 60 fts down even further or you get more mods. Still 104mph is a good trap speed for just a TBE (and I'm quite sure your car could trap higher), just keep practicing and you will hit 12s.

Yeah with only those mods your out of your out of your torque and hp range at 7400. About 5k makes the most power. The mph was lower cause you had a better launch and also the shifts to high didnt help.

If you are launching @ 5k and only getting 2.0 60ft. times, your clutch is going to be toast very soon. Just a warning, but it won't last like that. Was it smelly?

He stated that he was bogging meaning that he wasn't slipping the clutch. No toast, and no smell
