Tire pressure would be the easiest one keeping your current tires. Try starting around 25lbs and I wouldn't recommend going much lower than 23lbs unless you are running a drag radial with a soft/wrinkle sidewall.

You can go ahead and get R-compounds if you want, but they will not be good for drag racing and they will wear out in a few thousand miles.

Hmm, do R Compounds have to have a stiff sidewall? Toyo RA-1's I believe are R compounds and have soft sidewalls, thats why they can bubble easy and wear away very fast. People get maybe 10k miles on RA-1's.

Come back and show us your 1.7 60's on BFG R compounds. Why is this so difficult?

BFG R Compounds are Drag Radials, My friend uses them on his RS60T 97 GST Spyder.

At that pressure you may loose some MPH on the top end due to the resistance of the tire but it may be overcome by the better 60'. At 23lbs I see almost zero difference between higher tire pressures but then again that is 23lbs on all four tires so I have more resistance. Anything less than 23lbs, I start to see a drop in MPH and the 60' does not improve enough to compensate.

RA-1s are autocrossing tires. They have very stiff sidewalls. They wear away fast, because they have a 40 or 50 treadwear rating. I don't know anything about them bubbling easily or how that relates to sidewall stiffness.
